I am purchasing Autotap w/enhanced obdii parameters. Is it necessary for me to get EFILive bundled with it if I plan on getting LS1edit a little later? Thanks:confused:

No .... EFIlive is designed specifically for the LS1.. I have EFIlive 5 and ATAP but I prefer EFIlive ... for me it is just easier to use and of course you can now get the upgrade to ver 6 which puts it miles ahead of ATAP IMO.... have a look at the links for the two in the thread at the top of this forum and do compare the two and you just might reconsider your choice of data loggers :)

EFILive is a better logger, AutoTAP works
on non-LS1 cars. Either can be made to
work. If you plan on getting Edit "a little
later", by then EFILive might have made
good on its announced tuning/logging
combo product (and they say they will
have "such a deal" for current users, but
I wouldn't base my choice on that). Since
I think price is nearly a wash I'd suggest
you get EFILive Pro as your logger and
see if tuner software doesn't just get a
whole lot cheaper, soon.

If you are planning on getting Edit then definately hold off until some of the new Logger/Editer software products come out. EFILive is coming out with Flashscan and HPTuners has a logger/editer coming out very soon. Take advantage of the fact that you will be able to do some comparative shopping ;)

Some good points .. now is the time to have patience as there are NEW products as well as NEW VERSIONS in the works in the tuning/logging software arena as well as the existing vendors will need to respond to these advancements so now is the time to hang onto your money and spend it wisely after the dust settles and the verdict is out :)

That's probably some very good advice. Because honestly, I'm still somewhat confused:confused: So you are saying that if I wait a month or two, perhaps all I will need is one product? Thanks for your patience.:help:

See the EFILive website www.efilive.com for the facts on the upcoming products.
As it stands now, you need an OBDII compatible scan tool (such as www.Autotap.com) to monitor the changes made with LS1EDIT.
This is the minimum. Getting EFILive V6 will allow access to many more specific LS-X paramaters, some of which can be modified with LS1EDIT.
Autotap is made by B&B and and EFILive is DISTRIBUTED by B&B and are seperate products. I can understand the confusion why people think they are one in the same.
Do see the respective websites for the details.

I didn't word my original question very well. But thanks Emarkey I think you cleared my confusion up a bit. I thought EFI was part of Autotap.!!!

I have had both. EFI live is hands down a better scan tool then autotap IMO for ls1 cars.

That seems to be the general consensus. However, I also have 2000 Jimmy that I wouldn't mind being able to scan, too. Do you think the trade off would be too high? Is EFIlive THAT much superior?

I am pretty sure if it is a GM with an OBDCII port, EFI will monitor it. You just will not be able to use the advance LS1 stuff on your Jimmy. Unless of course you dropped an LS1 in it ;)

Well it's looking more and more like EFI may be the winner.:)
Damn, Im wanting to get Edit and EFILive soon. I want to put my headers on and I know that will mess up my A/F ratio. Maybe Ill just get Edit for now.:dunno:

But if you go with this method how will you know what to change and by how much :dunno: .. be patient and take your time and do it right :) ...... you need a logger to see what is going on....
