More than likely it will. Im 23 and I had a '02 35th LE SS before the Vette. My insurance only went up $100 every six months.

i goes down since most vette owners are old fogeys so not as prone to accidents and tickets and stuff so it is cheaper then fbody i do not have actual figures from the difference for me i am only 22 but it was lower

I did some checking around before I bought mine back in 03. An 03 corvette was cheaper on ins than an 02 Z28 for me.

The old fogey factore does help.

the convertible was 6 bux more than my 97 formy, but 15 bux more than a coupe. the z06 and vert are a bit more from state farm (at least for me). so if i had gotten a coupe it would have been cheaper.

Actually, you got this exactly ass-backwards.

Prices do almost invariably drop going from an F-body to a Corvette (they did for me also when I sold my '99 SS), but it's because F-bodies are wrecked at a frighteningly high rate by young, aggressive and/or inexperienced drivers.

The fact is, F-bodies have been, since they were first released, some of the very highest cars to insure. Stack them up against almost any other car on the planet, not just the Corvette, and you'll find their premiums will be higher. This has nothing to do with who does or doesn't drive C5s.

When I sold my Trans Am and got the Z06, my insurance basically didn't change. F-bodies have higher accident rates, and Corvettes cost more, so those to factors basically negated each other.

I am over 25, which I understand makes a big difference when it comes to driving an expensive sports car like a Corvette.

Your reference to "old fogeys" was not appreciated. Do you have a fear of getting older? BTW, this "old fogey" just had 43rd B-day & I'll venture to say I'm more physically active than you. I go to Golds Gym on a regular basis, run 3x's a week, and most folks mistake me for someone much younger.

Oh yea, when I traded in my 2002 NHRA SE Trans Am, M6 for 2001 C5 Coupe, A4 my Farmers Ins. decreased by $214.00/year.

Do you want to arm wrestle? :firey:

The top three deadliest cars of ALL TIME are the Chevorlet Camaro, Chevorlet Corvette, Pontiac Trans Am. I could see insurance going down a little but not that much. My roomate pays $400+ a month for insurance on a 78 vette (clean record no tickets). Although I checked with a few companies on C5 insurance (I'm getting one in less than 6 weeks) and the lowest I've found is $225/month. I'm 21 and have a clean driving record. I WAS paying $436/month on a 99 Trans Am. Texas has some of the highest insurance rates in the country. :(

Actually mine went down about $100 over a year. My 98 WS6 was $546 for six months and the Vette is $496 for 6 months. It was a plesent suprise and I thought it was a mistake but all I can figure is that ...and I hate to say it, since the last guy got flamed, but Vette owners tend to be more mature and I am thinking less prone to accidents. Ironic since my 98 was totaled by a guy going through a red light in an SUV. Hit me on the drivers side and sent me to the hospital. That was 6 months ago and I am still recovering but able to enjoy my new Vette (no fault insurance down here in Florida so I may not get much compensation except to cover my medical expenses). My WS6 was paid for ugh!!

My insurance went down $7 from my 00 WS-6 (which was totalled) to my 00 C5.

However, Im 18, and I have it set up where Im the primary driver on my dads truck and hes the primary on the vette, thats how weve always done it.

Very nice T/A. My WS6 was totaled by a guy running a red light so I also bought a Torch Red C5 Coupe. I miss the WS6 so I am looking for a 2002 WS 6 for my wife. That way I er uh we can have both.

Thanks on the compliment towards the T/A but what about my Mag Red Coupe:confused: :jest:
I do miss the T/A that I traded in for the C5, however much happier with my C5.

I'd like to have a V8 Firebird Formula as a daily driver. You hardly ever see them in my area. They are kind of sleeper with the appearance of V6 Firebird. My wife thinks it would be silly for me to have a musclecar when I already have a America's #1 Sports Car. Be sure to post PICs of the WS6 when you & mean your wife gets the keys.

Ha, Ha, of course I like your Corvette especially those ZO6 wheels. I actually looked at a Mag Red convertable but it was about 10K more than my Coupe and I like the Torch Red. Just that I am missing that boy racer WS6 I had. Guess I'll never grow up.

Every time I insure a new vehicle my Insurance goes down. I'm insuring a 2003 Maxima SE and a 2004 Z06 Vette right now my 6 month premium for both vehicles combined is $1080. The vette is about $700 of that by itself. Oh, I'm also only 24 and single. Getting married in October and turning 25 in January and my Ins. provider tells me it will drop significantly after each of those events :)

That's a good combined rate. My 04 Vette is only $580 and my wife's 02 Taurus wagon is $540 only $40 less but combined its more than yours @ $1120.

I too am an old fogey 40 y/o.
Vette insurance is much lower if you classify it as a "pleasure" vehicle ( 3rd car).

I am looking in to an 03 Z06 myself... My Z28 just rolled over 150K!
i'll never get rid of it.

regarding the "old guy" comment. I too work out religiously, running 3 days per week. Hwy's & hills Monday & Wednesday...
Sprints Saturdays..
Not a body builder!! Simply maintaining what i've got.
I am also a SDS ( Sr. Drill sgt ) in the USAR.
Have to stay in shape for you young guys!! :D

Hello Soldier (2000Z14X2),

Buda, Hays county, is about 15 miles south of Austin & 60 miles north of FT Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX which is home of my Unit, 5501st USAH.

Where in Texas are you, and where is your USAR Unit?
