I want a put a 12 disc changer in my 99 TA. I have the CD headunit. I know I can't just ad the stock changer with the 99 CD head unit. Well, could I just change my 99 CD player with a 00-02 CD player and add the changer??

If the changer is a gactory gm part but if the changer is aftermarket the only way your going to get that to work is with it being fm modulated.

So if the head unit is factory GM, and the changer is factory GM then it should work, right??

yes however gm makes two different cd changer plugs they make a ten pin and a nine pin makes sure the the cd changer matches the radio if it does then it should work.

As long as the stamped date of April/98 or later on the HU, then it's compatible with the 12 Disc changer:)

I got mine from Radios & More a few years ago for about $300 bucks:cool:

The changer also came with an extra long wiring harness, so instead of using the stock plug on the left side, I relocated the changer to the right side and hid it in the spare tire well....

I have a 98 and it works fine:cool:

It's the older ones dated before April 98 that don't work:\

Just give Radios & More a call:)

When I was shopping for a changer, I found out a lot of the Chebby guys were having trouble cause they weren't compatible:(

Seemed to be hit or miss for them:\

So I gave Radios & More a call and they told me about the stamped date factor for Pontiac HU's and even gauranteed it would work:)

Well, when I first plugged it in, it powered up fine, but then I got a little scare:\

Got some kinda error code on the HU:eek:

I got pissed and called R&M ready to blast them:mad:

They were already closed for the day, so I went through the manual to check the code reference and realized that I had loaded the CD's upsidedown:sillyme:

Flipped them around and all was good:cool:

If you want to go for a more Stealth installation, get a Caddi Catera or Chebby Truck changer:)

Both are compatible, but they mount vertically instead of horizontally like the stock changers:cool:

Fits prefectly within the spare tire well, completely hidden from sight:)
