I drove a trailblazer SS the other day and I'm hooked:drive: which is what led me to register here :)
My hangup is I just dont want to spend 30k on a truck and I dont really want something brand new. I also like the extra room a tahoe offers so I have really been thinking about trying an LS2 swap into a tahoe. I have located a complete LS2 with all accessories, ecu etc.. with only a few hundred miles for a great price. I think provided I get a good rolling tahoe cheap I should be able to have it together for about half of what a TB SS goes for.
I also plan on doing the tranny as well, and after some research think a built 4L80E with an LS1 bell housing would be up to the task, but I would love to hear what the knowledgeable people here have to say or recommed? Please keep in mind I want to keep the 4WD. I realize I will also need a custom drive shaft and probably a new rear end which I'm willing to tackle at the same time.
My questions are:
Will an LS2 pretty much drop into a V8 tahoe?
how tricky will it be to connect the tahoe's chasis harness to the new LS2 so all the warning lights on the dash and what not work? Someone said I can just get a painless wiring harness and it will be a cinch but I don't know?
What transmission and rear end should I run and why?
Thanks
:)
