View Full Version : Spraying on TR55's

I am heading to the track tomorrow night and I will be spraying for the first time. But I realized I never did buy any TR6 plugs to use with nitrous. I know the TR55's are a bit too hot for nitrous, but will they work alright just for tomorrow night??? How many runs can I get before the plugs start going bad??? I'm only spraying a 75 wet shot..

I was thinking of keeping the TR55s for my car once I get nitrous.... I know its pushing my luck... But I figure set my car up for most power NA, and then add nitrous.. to counteract the hotter plugs, and not pulled timing... just run highest octane gas I can get ahold of (116 octane is pretty easy for me to come by.. there is a place with race gas at the pump not even 10 minutes from my house :D)... higher octane doesnt burn as easily as lower octane..... should help fight back the detonation I would think, since it would take a higher temperature for the fuel to burn :shrug: Ive just heard of some power losses when running NA with pulling timing and colder plugs for nitrous, and since I wont be spraying the nitrous every day/every race, Id like to have a more all-motor based setup, and just put some race gas in for those nitrous races :shrug: Anyone have any insight/care to correct me/tell me how bad of an idea this is? :o

I sprayed three times seting up my car with the tr55's before I swaped to the 6's. Didn't have any trouble here!!
I always say "better safe than sorry."
I switched from tr55's to tr6's and daily drive/race my car.
I ran a 12.86 @ 110 with tr55's NA. Then I ran a 12.84 @ 110 with tr6's NA. You aren't going to loose any power by switching plugs.
And its just a safety precaution.

Or you can listen to the Genious if you want the electrode tocome off and rattle around in your cylinder and if you want the spark to come on to soon and cause knock then run the TR55.s
dont fucking do it man. get tr6's b4 u spray.
