The XM Delphi Skyfi piece I find to be ok. Personally I prefer the XM Commander. There are many reasons for this. One is that the Commander looks much better. The driver and passengers in the car can only see the face of the unit and a little bit of one wire. In a camaro they should see no wire for those are easy to install in. Nobody sees the brain or all the wire like on the Skyfi piece. The price on a Commander is 160 or less the Skyfi shound be around 200 if not more. The face on the Skyfi cost 149 and the car kit cost 49 and the fm modulator cost 59. Just so you know. Also the Skyfi is fm modulated only the Commander has the option of fm modulation or auxilry plug in. Also the fm modulators on both pieces are very good fm modulators. By the way I have a commander in my car. I highly recommend it.

this is for the delphi skyfi piece again the only upside that I can think of is that if you want xm in your house the skyfi is transferable between your car and house

Delphi Skyfi (http://www.xmradio.com/skyfi/)

this is for the xm commander the site shows all the pieces but remember that you only see the face. If you need help with the antenna tell me and I will look at my friends z28 and tell you where I would put it.

XM Commander (http://www.xmradio.com/commander/)

maybe if its an auto, i tried the skifi unit there and in all the top gears it would be really close to gettin wacked by the shifter. i ended up taking the right a/c vent out of the center radio trim and puttin it there. doesnt make much of a diff. on the a/c for you , but it only leaves 1 to the pass. :dunno:

See thats a common problem when installing the Skyfi piece. Its just too darn big. But the commander is smaller. I will look in my friends car tomorrow and tell you if I think the commander will fit there.

Skifi is 99-120, each docking kit is 40-60. Skifi can move between vehicles and home with just a kit in each location. Commander can't do that.

Skifi has FM Mod, Cassette Adapter, and Lineout.

the bug with any FM mod is you gotta buy 2 $20 antenna adapters thanks to GMs non-standard connection. btw you don't see but 2"s of wire on my skifi install. still see the kit and unit. although the Skifi is about.. 4"Hx6"Wx1.5"D

yea the skifi isn't designed for a car like ours. more for trucks, vans, ect. the Sony XM PnP(a retired unit) on the other hand was great for our cars, small, low profile, thin but long.

anyhow mines down infront of the shifter. behind a Auto its not a problem.

I pretty much agree with everything that has been said. The commander will fit where the cigerette lighter is. It will cover it up but it will fit. I am going to try to take a picture with the Commander in different locations so you can see what it will look like. Also the skyfi does not have a line good line out. It doesn't sound like a true auxilery. The cassette adapter I hate. And what if he has a cd player. Also yes you do have to buy the antenna adapters. A GM-30 cost 15.95 on my company's web site. Click the add to cart button and can have one to you in 2 to 3 days. Thats a common part so I know we have it in stock.

but ya need two. one for each way. that way the FMmod still passes the normal FM signal through. line out works good for me.

so figure about 90-100 for a FMmod setup.. hell at that price why not get a aftermarket HU?

One the GM-30 is two antenna adapters go to the web site and you will see that. What it is is the GM10 and the GM20 add those together and what do you get yes thats right a GM30. Also the Delphi has no line out so you would be getting the Commander to get the line out. Also the FM Modulation sounds fine. It sounds a little better than an FM Station. Also a lot of stupid people will complain about not being able to hear some FM Channels and that they can't here AM at all. Well when you turn the commander off it turns the fm modulator off and you get all the fm signals and the am signals. I thought I would throw that in since everybody seems to bitch about that.

Delphi does have a Line out. I have one mounted in my car, connected via LineOut(SKifi)/LineIn(KenwoodHU) the line out is a standard headphone jack. either plug the cassette adapter lead into it or get a $5 cable from radioshack to split it from stereo headphone to stereo RCA. while you may not think of it as a line out it is called that for simplicity.

yea the interuption of the antenna connection baffles some when they have the FM mod on. just turn it off ya goofs!
