Where to get specs. on Truck

I am trying to find out all of the options that came on a 2001 Chevy truck for a friend. Basically what comes on the window sticker when you buy a vehicle brand new.
He is wanting to know what kind of gears, transmission and other options.

They should be the same options as for the current '04 trucks. Engines, trannys, gears all differ and depend on what configuration you are looking into. Be more specific and I will try to help you out.

Well what he has is a 2001 3/4 ton HD Ext. Cab Long bed truck. It has the 6.0 engine. But he is wondering what rear end gears it has and transmission. I know that the rear end gears are usually 3.73 or 4.10, but dont know which ones for sure

Look in his glovebox. The sticker that has all the codes on it will tell exactly what is on his truck. You just have to look them up and match them up. It will show the gear ratio, options, etc.

When he finds the codes in the glove box, what is he supposed to match them up to? Is there some kind of document/book to reference the codes to?

These are the only gear ratio codes i have...

GU6 is 3.42 gears. GT4 is 3.73 , GT5 is 4.10, and GU8 is 3.08

Here's a link to all the RPO codes. You can just compare whats in his glovebox to the codes listed on the website to figure out what all of his option are.
