i was considering a z06 but at the time the prices were higher than a GTO was.

z06s are badass.i just wanted something new with an ls2 and a C6 was too much.

I'll vote for the 05 GTO. Its a more practical car with 4 seats and a trunk. The car still has plenty of power and rides very nicely on rough roads.

I know I made the right choice when I purchased my 05 MBM.

Reason you can drive it year round.
I just drove mine through 14 inches of snow thursday without any problems.
I highly doubt that the Zo6 could be driven in 1 inch of snow

i compare a car overall.

considering a GTO is heavier due to safety requirements and them being fully loaded its obvious some performance and economy is going to be compromised.

its also obvious higher quality materials are used for this car.

the leather in my SS is crap and i had to have my seat fixed twice.the leather in my GTO is far better.not even close.

it rides better,its tons more comfortable.

the car also comes with an IRS and true dual exhaust.

fbody rears suck and SLP did a mediocre job at best painting my hood.it looks more red than orange.

dont get me wrong.youre correct in saying fbodies are better for drag racing and get better mileage but its not because the motor is better.

it was designed to do alot of things well.not just one.

i covered the performance argument.

GTOs are designed to fit 4 people comfortably and not necessarily be an all out drag car.

its just an overall tighter car and it feels like it too.

The LS1 Trans Am will be remembered for its dominance and unique aggressive styling for decades to come like the muscle cars of the 60's and 70's. Who keeps these cars stock anyways? It doesnt take much to out perform a GTO in every aspect except for seating room.

04s were discounted mostly because buyers were waiting for 05s to come out.

Z06 hands down. It does everything performance wise better. Through on a Procharger & headers and not much is going to touch you on the street. I have to ask the question of Fbody owners here, How many times do you use the back seat? If I removed mine tomorrow I woudn't miss it.

2 years ago, I was a diehard F Body fan but if you think a LS1 F Body has shit on a GTO...youre lying to yourself. LS2 GTOs are superior in EVERY way...except for making a drag car, which is the only reason Im even keeping my TA.

As far as GTO vs zo6...if its a daily driver, GTO. Weekend toy I'd take the zo6. Simple as that imo.

Tell me how bad the resale value is. Only problem is the people with '04s that were smart paid no where near sticker. So if the car now goes for $20k a year later, thats fine.

Go buy your Charge, my GTO is quicker. Buy your BMW, Lexus, or Benz. Dollar for dollar my $27k 13.5 @ 103 MPH GTO owns every one of them. It breaks my heart that the car is so hated on, because thats what I bought it for, approval from others.

You internet GTO haters are all the same. You all talk shit online but in person not one of you ever has the balls to say shit to me. Instead, whether it be at the track or at the gas pumps, people walk up and compliment the car. Everyone is a hater online but too much of a pussy to ever voice their opinion in person.

I have had two FBodies, and I loved them both. I can see myself getting back into an FBody at some point and making it a serious car. Until then, the GTO fits the bill for what I need which is some refinement, decent performance, and without a huge car note....
