Just my personal theory, based on reading the rumors, and statements GM has made about them. I've yet to be wrong on one of these, but this is based purely on my opinion and no official information from GM.
I've been saying they were gonna show a Camaro replacement at the 2006 auto show for 2 years.

If I had to venture a guess, I'd say you will have to wait quite a bit longer than a year. Could be wrong though.

I cant wait either. Who is going to the auto show? I'm either going on the 14th or 15th this year. I beleive this is an exciting time for GM at the auto show. New Camaro, All the GM 900 trucks will be there, icluding all of the SUV's. There are also plenty more vehicles to see. I can't wait to go.

Scott posted this on Chirpthird.com...
welll.....it was 'interesting'........
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
spent another day in Cobo Center getting the finishing touches on the Chevy and Hummer Displays.......(There's a chapter in my book about this.......)
......anyway.......rehearsed the 'unveil'..........
......let me say this............if the video doesn't give you at least goose bumps, then you don't have a pulse............I'm still speechless everytime I watch it......but on large screens, it's even more amazing.
...........anyway......naturally 'the car' isn't there yet.........so we used a 'stand in' for the 'drive thru' during the rehearsal (yes...you rehearse and rehearse to make sure it comes off perfect...a car this important deserves only the best...................
................and that car that we used was.........
VIN #1.......the first 35th Anniversary Camaro.........and I guess you had to be there.....but it was a 'defining' moment for me -- and a very emotional one at that.
I can hardly wait to watch the faces on my fellow enthusiasts on Monday morning.
By the way.....we WILL be simulcasting the unveil on the internet.....I will post the addresses on Sunday nite on this and several other sites.

I simply cannot wait.
But why is GM pushing this back to 09? I know that typically they unveil a concept and then take a year or two to actually get it going to production, but once again (just like back in the 60s) GM is getting into the game late. The whole revival of the muscle car is going on now. New Chargers, new mustangs, etc are all coming out and doing well with the public. But GM's going to wait 3 more years before the Camaro is here? I don't remember where I read it, but it said that Bob Lutz needs to commit to an 08 public release and watch the people line up, if not sooner. :)

Same here, but I can't really imagine a good looking retro Firebird. Although, I must admit that I'm not a fan of the 1st or 2nd gen Firebirds. The 1st gen Camaro has always been one of my favorites, and I think the Camaro concept is even better looking.
