This might be the vehicle that will replace both my Acura and GMC. But not till next next year. Let them work out any bugs that might show up on the first runs.

That's probably about what the I6's get on average too. Except the SS will have a shit ton more power.

Here's a lesson on "why are things the way they are?"
I think every enthusiast at GM (and there are lots of 'em, believe it or not....) loves dual exhausts..........and esp. the sound of a muscular V8 engine.
However..........there's this thing called 'crash standards'....you may recall that the concept TrailBlazer SS had duals and a really great looking custom rear fascia........the problem is that the vehicle MUST conform to all federal safety standards. We test to failure......then redesign. I'm told that the single exhaust was due to packaging issues........(also the fascia)....remember......when a vehicle is impacted at high speeds, the stuff under the vehicle has to go SOMEWHERE......and you don't want it going into certain places. (think crown vic)
Soooooo.........that's the reason!
We've been shipping them for about two weeks.

some trivia........
The Vehicle Line Executive for the Trailblazer (also Colorado and SSR) was, until last week, Tom Wallace. Tom is a Camaro enthusiast and in fact races his Camaro in Trans Am.
Last week, he was appointed VLE and Chief Engineer for the Corvette and XLR.
While I'm sorry to see Dave Hill retire, you can be assured that the Corvette and XLR are in GREAT hands.
And......he's the driving force behind the TrailBlazer SS.
Drive one and be impressed!

You the man.
Now explain to the masses why 02 F-bodies don't have LS6 blocks and 12 bolt rearends.

They do.....bright aluminum casting from St. Catharines....darker aluminum casting from Mexico.
Weight.......would put a fully loaded WS6 over into the next test class .....which would carry the entire line with it.

Too bad we couldn't have seen a full LS6 for the 2002 35th. :(

No, not crash standards.......fuel economy standards (CAFE)....raising the weight of the car would put it in the next test class weight......and that would effect the entire Corp's overall CAFE rating. This is esp. important when you realize that the Fcar was a 'positive' for CAFE.......meaning, it actually, in the test class weight it was in.....helped the Corp average fuel economy. Had it gone into the next one, it would have hindered it.
Thus.......weight is everything. (And I know there are those who are worried about 'future generations' of 'certain cars'
We should have put an LS6 engine in the Anniversary Cars???
YA THINK?!?!?!
j/k....
Yes, it would have been great to have an LS6 engine in the Anniversary cars -- and yes, it was in the plan.....however, knowing the Camaro and Firebird production would be coming to an end in the 2002 model year, there were no financial resources available for us to do it. We (the team) asked and were told 'no.'
Now.........it just so happens that several cars (about 70) happened to get shipped to Marietta, Georgia.......and it just so happens that the same number of LS6 engines got shipped to the same place. (Go figure!!!)
Ever hear of GMMG???

I have to say, the seats were REAL comfy, and the swede center was really nice. No sliding around.

I am VERY impressed with the TBSS. I think GM did an outstanding job on it, and I think they will have a winner on their hands.

Yeah, but I think it's success is going to be eclipsed by the Solistice and the Sky. Those two cars are definite winners.

Without a doubt. I see a large amount of people that have always wanted a small roadster buying them like hotcakes. Considering their previous options, Miata (womans car) Z3/4 (too expensive for some's taste) the Solstice and Sky will give them what they want. Go-Kart like performance without looking like a woman or paying through the nose. There is no way that they cannot be a runaway hit.
I'll not even get into the slaughter that will be the turbo'd versions.

I liked the G6 GTP a lot, too... I thought it was a sharp looking car, I'd definitely get into driving one. Nice to see the coupe finally out, that car looks great as a coupe.

It's not bad at all. I personally like the new Impala as well. It's much better than the Impala I owned a year or so ago. Only one thing wrong, it's FWD. I hope they will fix that soon. If the new Imp was RWD, it would be the complete package. I was pleasantly suprised that they put the 303hp V8 in it.

I'm not feeling the new Impala... There's a theme to the looks of the Impala, Malibu, etc. I think they look a little bland. It really pales in comparison to the '96 Impala SS, and definitely needs RWD with that motor.

Without a doubt it looses it's luster compared to the SS, but I think it is a gradual improvement over the previous Imps.
