After changing the oil and filter I decided to go to the corner gas station to fill the tires with air.Well as I was doing that I noticed that all four valves strems had dry rot.So before going to do some crusin I went and had new stems installed(also had the tires rotated). They didnt charge me just told me to tip the guy doing it so I gave him $10.On my way to visit a friend I noticed a Z06 on my ass.So I decided to open it up on the on ramp of the freeway.I made a complete stop with him on my bumper and then nailed the go pedal. The T/A screamed and slipped then got traction leaving some carbon smoke. The rear end got loose the Ram Air shaker opened and inhaled some fresh air while grabing second. By the time I hit the on ramp I was doing about 75-80 with him about 20 car lengths behind me.:):D

I'm jealous.
Everyone moves to ls2.com and gets 1970 T/As.
Where's mine? :D
Awesome car.
Way to get old school on the LS6

I'd love a 2nd gen, but I'd buy a '72 personally... Best looking year of all of them, and the rarest.
I would kill for a straight '72 Firebird 4-speed shell in good shape... Would love to make a new school / old school hybrid Trans Am clone out of it.
'72 looks with a LS1/LS2/LS6 and a T56. That would rock.

'72 and under (stock) are supposed to have the better engines. The engine that you would want to look for (if you were to keep it stock) would be the 455 SD. The blocks over 72 seemed to get weaker and not being able to withstand the higher RPMS.
Good luck trying to find a 455 SD... Ls6 would be the wisest choice.

Ya a 73-74 SD 455 in a Trans Am or a Formula would be nice. But they are,as you said very hard to find.If you do find one be prepared to pay some big green.
