if this is true it opens the door for GM to make an affordable musclecar with a variation of an ls7 to once again dominate.

385, 405, 505 and now 650? Won't be a Z06. There have been many rumors as to what it would be called. Stingray would be bad ass but it may be SS, which seems the most logical:shrug:

Corvette SS would be kinda shitty.
Heck, I like the Blue Devil moniker.

SS would be a total joke considering what vehicles currently carry that moniker.
It will probably be someting of significance pulled from the Vette past early on I would think.

That fact that SS has been thrown around so much, makes me want the Z28 to be the top model Camaro when it comes out.

SS does come from the Vette's early history;)By the way, I'm confused as to what is wrong with the current vehicles that have an SS badge:confused: Especially since, eraly in the SS name's history it was nothing more than a trim upgrade and not power;)

SS was never publically an offering in the Vette line. :nono:
And it didn't have much to brag about seeing it only ran 23 laps before breaking down.

It's not what is wrong with the current vehicles, as far as the Vette is concerned a $100k+ Vette should not be linked with the low priced SS offerings in the Chevrolet line. That would be nothing short of outright stupidity IMO.
What about DV1 which gives a nod to Duntov and a bit of a nod to the devil moniker rumor its been carrying. :hmm:

What I would like to see is that used on a specialty version something between the regular C6 and the ZO6 power level in perhaps some limited edition colors.

I am voting for the hyphenated "Sting-Ray" of the early 1960's.
SS would be a total joke considering what vehicles currently carry that moniker.
That's a steaming pile of bullshit. A current Malibu SS would mop the floor with about 95% of the Malibus that were made between 1965 and 1972 that had "SS" on them. You need to change that broken old paradigm you are dragging down the highway.

Most of them don't "remember" anything and have never driven a 60's era muscle car. The closest they get to them is smelling the exhaust at an auto show.
I wouldn't call the classic experience a total negative, but most of them were not all that they are cracked up to be. Most of todays drivers would consider an old muscle car to be a slow, ill-handling, gas-sucking, exhaust stinking rattle-trap after driving it for a week. FWIW almost any Chevelle/Malibu or Impala without serious modification or a big block probably would get wasted in the 1/4 by the current Malibu SS or Impala SS...to say nothing of handling and stopping.
That said, I do agree that it would be dumb to put SS on a Corvette. It just doesn't seem right. Sting-Ray would be a more logical choice.
