Hey everybody,
What would the master of broken LT1s (me) have to look for when looking into purchasing this car? What are the potential pitfalls when buying a car this modded and what would you decide to do? Help? Thanks.

I would not buy a car like that with the mods it has, you dont know what kind of mess you could be getting your self into.
I would say it has had the snot run out of it.-pitfalls,more money.these cars love money, but there are fast

Damn...I wish I could find a cheap LS1 T/A that will last me a couple years at least. A pipe dream, perhaps...
i wouldnt buy that car. i certainly wouldnt buy a modded car from someone who couldnt accurately describe there mods; namely what heads, port stage, springs, vavle size. what intake he has, dyno numbers, track numbers, ect. And i certainly wouldnt buy a setup like that, that "needs tuning". unless he just put in those mods he should of already had it tuned.
just take your time and keep an eye out for good deals, you can find an unmolested ls1. 98's are going for under 10k and 99's for just a tad higher. you'll find the car thats right for you.

We all want modded cars......
But if we are smart we did all of the modding our selfs ( or had it done) unless you know the person who owned it, or did the work (shop) I would have to pass.

Not a pipe dream at all.
As far as THAT car goes... I wouldn't touch it. With those mods and 80k miles, anything can happen. Blow up the transmission or suffer some catastrophic engine damage, that 8000$ car can turn into a 10,000++$ investment overnight. Unless you know the guy, and how he treats his cars, I would be very leery.
As far as finding a cheap LS1 T/A, it is very possible right now. My advice is to give yourself a couple months to find it. Check autotrader for cars near you, put all the local dealers in your favorites folder and look at them at least once a week, check this and the 'other' message board for members selling their cars.
I bought my 98Z about 3 years ago for 15k with 9000 miles on it. Most places were around 19k at that time. I looked dilligently for 3 months before I found the deal I wanted. Patience will eventually pay off. And, if you're buying from a dealer, NEVER pay asking price.

well maybe it's better to buy a modded car that has been done right, rather than buy a stocker, and try to mod it yourself, only to screw something up really bad, and not have it running for 9 months outta the year...... :D :o
