I have a 98, and 3 years ago, the light on my left steering wheel pod went out, and I tried to fix it by soldering an LED to the PC board, I ended up messing up the whole switch though. Last year, my right side one went out too, and I tried fixing that, and ended up cracking the case trying to open it up, so I just said f*** it, and was going to order new ones....that is until I saw that theyre $120 each at the dealer and $70+ each at gmpartsdirect.

There was a post on the old board where I argued that the newer style buttons wouldnt work on my car (which is a 98 and has the older buttons), but since theyre only $21, I ordered a pair and am going to try and make it work. I have my airbag off now, and I removed the wiring harness for them, so I'll do what it takes to see if I can get them to work.

I will post my results later.

Well, hot damn. Everything worked out great. I dont know what I was smoking months ago when I said this wouldnt work. 99+ steering wheel pods DO work in 98 cars! :D
