Sounds like an awesome test, doesn't look like the Viper did so well.

A better question would be what were the conditions that day when the 1/4 mile times were run.

Well I figured even before I even saw the test results that the Z06 and Ford GT would beat the Viper at anything and everything.
I'm just wondering how the Ford GT beat the Z06 from 0-60, but then the Z06 beat the GT in the 1/4. I thought it would be the other way around considering the power to weight of the GT should be better than the Z06.
The 1/4 mile times kinda suck for all the cars but it looks like the Z06 is definitely the best bang for the buck.

M7y guess on the 0-60 is they may not have wound out 1st on the ZO6 like they should have.
I'm not so certain those were actual dragstrip1/4 mile track runs. It would look like they used the raceway for 0-60 and 1/4 testing.

good to see a z06 as a worthy competitor.

its very hard for me to give that any credit...
let GM, ford and DCX each pick ANY pro driver they want and then set them on a track...
those people cant drive or somehting

Who in the hell was driving these things?!?!?! :boggled:
In Motor Trend, the Z06 got a 3.5 sec. 0-60 and an 11.5 @ 127 mph quarter mile. These guys must have used a G-Tech :slap:
Note to self: Automobile magazine drivers are Th3 Sux0r!!!!!
One more thing, what is the deal with the 198 mph top speed? This bad boy HAS to be able to crack the 200 mark. Do they do this for insurance purposes or what?

Well, judging by those times, that article means shit to me:rolleyes:

Umm...not so fast guys, the lap times at Gingerman are VERY good times for all cars so they must have had good drivers.
Again...my guess is they did the 0-60 and 1/4 right there without a good launch surface.

My guess would be that they used the straighaway of the track they were on for the 1/4 mile times, not an actual strip, but i think thats what the other magazines do too. Could have just been a slippy day.

I would guess the 0-60 times for the GT are better because they don't have to shift to 2nd 'till after 60mph where the vette probably has to shift around 55mph or so thus giving the slower 60 time, but still accelerates faster giving the better 1/4 mile time. 0-60 is purely marketing. For a real comparrison they should move it to 70 so every car will have to shift.

you are right in this case... although it shows they weren't pushing the vette all the way as the car will pull 60 in 1st gear when letting it all hang out. thats why GM claims 0-60 in the high 3s

just read the article, it kicked arse. Basically they said the GT was the overall best, but its price blows, so everyone agreed the Z06 is definantly the best overall out of the 3.
