I recently got my car back from the shop after my wreck(all front end work), and on the sides of the car I have this haze/film on it. I run my fingers over it and its rough kind of like an unwaxed paint feeling. I've tried waxing it, of course washing, and two different types of scratch removers. But I had the same thing on my chrome rims and the chrome rim polish took it right off. Anyone have any ideas?

Over spray ?
Normally worst on top of the car but can still get on the sides.
Gets pretty sticky when its flying around.
Try a clay bar to remove it.

i'm almost positive that it's paint overspray. Clay bar will take care of it in a matter of minutes!

Wash with dish detergent.
Claybar.
Wash with car soap.
Apply your favorite wax/polish.

yep... sounds like overspray. get yourself a claybar. make sure the car is perfectly clean before using it.

Didn't seem to do much to it, maybe I waited too long?
1. Use good old school Dawn dish soap.
2. Use the clay bar.. (Rember to make up a bottle of soapy water to use with the clay bar., and don't be stingy with it)
3. Wash car again.
Sometimes a heavy concentration of over spray is tough to remove with a clay bar, you will have to use a little more pressure against the bar for it to work. If all else fails carry it back to the shop and show them the over spray.

It's overspray.
The shop did a crappy job in controlling the overspray and covering the car while painting it. It's their fault, so take it back to them and let them dod what they need to do to get it off.
They have products and equipment that will get it off easily.

exactly. just be careful....
i have used a clay bar to remove a substance that looked like dried epoxy. my buddy has a black lexus. came back from the shop one day and it looks like something dripped on the side of his car - 3 "drops" of something clear, but raised. it looked like glue or exoxy of some sort. it was hard as a rock and wasn't going to wash off. since it was so tall i didnt' want to start with abrasives since i didnt' want to mess up the surrounding paint.
it took about 15 minutes of using a clay bar with heavy pressure, but it came off! i did have some slight swirls when i was done (i think becuase of all the pressure on the clay and the continuous rubbing) but a quick hand application of 3m swirl remover fixed that.
my advice is to spend some more time working it with the clay.
