GTO vs. benz

anyone see the comparison of the gto and the amg clk benz car, cant remember the exact model name but it has a 360 hp v8. i think its in the new road and track, cant remember though. pretty cool article. they gave the GTO alot of compliments and a pretty good review. hung right with a car that costs over twice as much. :D

It was Motor Trend, and it was the CLK55. They had a side profile shot of teh GTO and CLK55, and they look very similar in over all shape, just as much as any "cavi" or "grand prix" :rolleyes:. They said you get 85-90% of the fun for 50% of the price of the CLK.
If the CLK was a regular 430 or 500 model, things would have been different :cool:. Or, if there was an LS2/6 under the hood of the GTO.
Anyway, MT really likes the GTO. They ran a 13.86@102 in a A4 automatic. They compared auto to auto because the CLK55 does not come with a 6spd option.

They also had a sweet 4 page add going on. On one page was a wheel of a Grand Prix GTP doing a burn out and there was "260hp" in large, white letters. Next page is the larger wheel of the Bonnie GXP doing a larger burn out, with "275hp" in the same way as the GP page. Then the 3rd page was the GTO's wheel in a rather large cloud of smoke with "350hp" in the same white print. On the 4th page is all 3 of them and its says "885hp". Man, its quite pimp. Id like to see a 260hp Solstice in that line up along with a 270hp G6 and a 300hp GP. MMMM, looks like Pontiacs tire budget is going up in smoke. :cool:

The GTO did quite well against the AMG tuned Clk500 and Amg CLK55

I love that Benz but the GTO really impressed me!

Yeah I have that MT Magazine from a few months back. The GTO did very well for it's price.:) Would love to see if MT does a re-match with the '05 GTO with LS2 vs the AMG CLK55.;)

It's $50K though so I doubt many folks would cross-shop it with a Goat. now the LKs2 GTO will be another thing entirely
