Okay...I visited NTB and a Firestone shop. Both said it can't be patched, becaues it is too close to the belt :dunno:  He said that if he DOES patch it, it will leak in a week, and I will lose my ZR rating  This tire has 4k miles on it, and the other rear passenger side has 2k miles on it (after someone slashed my tire).

Here are my alternatives:

1 new GS-C....$250 before labor

two new BFG KDWS 245/50/16 for $329.50 installed, etc

two new Bridgestone Potenza RE750's 245/50/16 for $329.28 installed

and any other suggestions? I hope that these people are not bullshitting me about not being able to patch it.

I'd plug it if it were on a mere mortal car, but I don't know how comfortable I'd be driving around a Camaro with a "Maypop".

$6 at Walmart and you can plug a bunch of tires.

I say plug it, put it in the back, drive safely while saving up for another tire. Just an opinion, you're on your own if you crash it.

damn bad luck man.

thats the flexing area of the tire so no its not repairable, especially not on a high performance tire that gets put through alot more stress than most tires, better hope you had road hazard, you should check with discount tire about our free replacement warranty! and you can save alot of money;)

It's tiny, it's repairable, but it also depends a lot on how you drive. High speeds all the time? Go for new tyres. Around town, nothing crazy? Patch it.

Of course I'm assuming you're talking about the little nail. You seem to have shinynewcameratoolazytoresizepics disease so I had to scroll around a bit.

so when that tire blows out, because of the stress that the tire takes right there are you gonna replace the damaged wheel and car, maybe even person!

It looks like its on the side wall and they rarely patch if ever on the sidewall.

that thing is straight on the sidewall.
REPLACE the tire... non-pachable.

I had a screw in about that same area and I had the thing patched. many many miles later, many burnouts later, and lots of other things later I don't have a single problem :dunno:

You're right there, sometimes they'll hold...Just be careful, not every circumstance is the same.

That maybe patchable and may work fine, but since it is so close to the sidewall, why take a chance. I would rather spend some money and get a new tire, just for peace in mind.

Id take Bradens advice he's the tire MAN. I also worked at a tire shop for a few years and recommend that you replace it for the simple fact that when your tire rolls it flexes which will cause the patch to fall off or leak.

I ended up going with a pair of Firehwak SZ50's in the back, and kept the GSC's up front. I've nothing but good about them, and the price was right. In the summer, I'll be running GS's with the polished lip...so it didn't make sense replacing ALL four.

Nope, LUCKY it was a rear tire, not a front one.
A front one would have been a really bad deal at those speeds.

There was that hole + 2 more in it and it was smoking when I stopped. Kind of funny. But crappy changing the tire on the side of I-95 at 2am.
