Clutch Cost?

I have a 96 trans am with a six speed. I'm fairly new to stick shift and what parts go wrong and so on. I know that my clutch is slipping, when i put it in either 3-6 gear, and i floor it, the rpms climb fast and the speed of the car doesnt increase. So i talked to my local mechanic, and he stated a clutch disk replacement job costs about 700-800 bucks, is this how much they normally go for? I definatly dont want to get ripped off....

Just a quick link to see what prices are these days. Count on about 4 hrs labour to do the job. Also get a new throw out bearing (if you don't get one with your clutch) and replace the rear main seal while you're in there.
