I've heard 253 hp out of the Turbo Solstice/Sky. I'm not sure yet which one of the two turbo Kappa's I'd buy. I like em' both. :yup:

From the reviews of the new Solstice that I've read, its larger inside than a Miata. They should be hitting dealers lots in the next couple of months so you should be able to sit in one soon. The Sky shouldn't be any different, they are basically the same car.

I remember reading that Lutz put someone 6'3" in charge of the project because he wanted ot make sure tall people COULD fit inside of it.
And from what i have seen it looks like it could (havent sat just outside looks a lot bigger than some of those little cars)

hahahah really?
is that the lotus/jag dealer?
Yeah, when I was looking at buying an Esprit that is what stopped me from buying it because I couldnt push in the clutch without pushing in the brake pedal. I passed because I didnt want to wear special shoes just to drive a dang car.

so you went the complete oposite direction and got a GN:D
hows she running BTW?
The GN is running better than any other TR I have ever owned. Right now its sitting in the garage awaiting more mods. Should have the down pipe, full exhaust, and alky kit in this winter. Then its on to the tranny and then it will be time to up the boost! :drive:

Leave comments like this to yourself. Just because someone mentions they want a GM product more than a Ford product does not mean they are a troll.
This is the GM only section of the site so his comments fit in perfectly here.

its great when you get a nice, tight, well running GN. i'm going to find one (or maybe a TTA) someday. mine was a blast when it was running right - and the body was beat.

The regular Solstice is about 2800 lbs. Don't know yet what the turbo model will weigh.

They are doing their best to keep it to the same general weight. Expect around a 50lb penalty. This does inlcude the base car's options that will be standard though...

i think it's a very cool little car, especially because it'll be cheap. can't wait to see what they run.
isn't the cobalt ss going to switch over to the turbo motor at some point?

that REALLY makes the cobalt ss a lot more attractive. that was the only thing the srt-4 had over it, now if they switch like that - bye bye srt-4.

I was talking to the Buick reps at the Minneapolis Auto Show and they said the name Grand National would not be used again. With the talks of bringing out a GNX I am patiently waiting to see what they actually do. If it looks anything like that chopped GTO then I would be in line to buy it the moment I could.

we received our first Solstice about a week ago (i work at a Pontiac dealer). I am right at 6 ft and I did not feel cramped at ALL. I was surprised by the amount of room inside. I would say that 6'3'' or so would be ok, not great (as long as you're not a huge guy). Anything over that would probably be pushing it.

I can't wait to see one in person. Do you drive it? How did it drive? How's the power on the base model?
I wouldn't mind picking up a base model as a car to cruise around in and drive to work on decent weather days. The gas mileage is better than my T/A.

That car looked pretty damn sweet for sure.
BTW, does anyone have a pic of that GNX lyin around?
I do at work. If nobody has posted it by Tuesday I will.

if they're going to call a new car a GNX, it needs to be a turbo engine, automatic, solid rear, with a suspension set up for drag racing, like the original was.

From what I've read the SRT-4 is gone along with the Neon platform for 2006.

I agree, it will be a good day when GM drops the blowers and replaces them with turbos. :)

blowers on v8's are cool. on 4 bangers? nah. i'd prefer a turbo.
that being said, i've seen that you can get the cobalt ss's up to like 270hp at the wheels with a pulley swap and some other mods. that ain't bad. i'd still prefer a turbo though.
the turbo sky will be very cool :yup: seems like it would be a fun little car with full exhaust, full electronics, fuel system, and a t3/t4 hybrid turbo swap :D would probably run low 12's and scare the shit out of some unsuspecting people at the track :D

this is getting off topic, but aren't they going to come out with a successor? i thought the srt-4 was pretty successful.
let's stay on topic though. the other forum is for this type of discussion.

meh. turbo is always better, especially for a small engine.
does someone make a twin-screw kit for the cobalt ss? that would be a cool little daily driver with that thrown on there :D

any idea how much the turbo sky's will be?
I've already made up my mind that I want a black turbo Sky (Redline??) with an undecided set of black rims with a polished lip.

There is nothing to stop Mazda from releasing a MazdaSpeed version of the new Miata with some serious zoom zoom.
