open heads?
the first things you should get done are intake and exhaust and build from there.....

Like it was said above, intake and exhaust are the first things to go with. From there it just depends on how much money you want to spend.

since most of us are fbodies our intakes are different, but K&N may make a FIPK for your car so look into that, intense-racing.com may have something along with zzperformance.
and dont drill your cats. just have them replaced with a straight pipe, simpler and sounds better

An Intake alone won't yield alot of HP, so get which ever one you want.
I would also recommend against drilling your cats. You can find some high flow cats for fairly cheap online somewhere.

a good cam is the GT2 cam from zzperformance.com (its a comp cam grind) or the intense racings 3800 n/a stage 1... both ought to sound good but will require some head work on the valve seats (ithink)

the VS cam is also a good choice. It doesn't require any head work, and should compliment a good bolt on car nicely

i thought i heard the vs cam could cause you to run lean?

any guesses on where all that would put me hp wise? and as far as weight reductions where do i target first?

I've never heard of the VS cam causing a car to run lean.

with heads, cam, headers, full exhaust, intake, and tuning probably around 220hp maybe more
a good nitrous cam would be the vs cam.
g'luck and let us know what you decide.

i think he met at the wheels??? maybe

He did mean at the wheels.
Actually you could probably expect a bit more with all the mods he listed... expecially with the heads/cam in there. With tuning becoming more available for 3.8 cars, you have all you need to make a pretty stout little engine...

Well i think my plans might be changing... i asked my mom if i get $1000 and give my dad my car if i can get a GTP and she said yes so i think the summer plans might be changin

Step one to mod'ing is to stop asking F-body owners question about the GP.
Find a nice GP site, like clubgp.com. Lots of good info on the GP.
I am looking into buying an Vette, so here I am on a LS1 website.

people can own 2 different cars, or have friends with them.
Ease up a little

Hmmm... Grand Prix's have the same engine that we do... asking a 3.8 FBody owner about how to increase power in another 3.8 car makes sense to me.

Tuef,
THe engine is the same but is mounted differently. So much of the drivetrain is different that what works well on the Fbird / Camaro might not be the best solution for a grand prix.
In case you are asking I know the intake and exhaust are completely different, the trany is not even close. The computer is different. The GP and the Fbodys are very different cars.
All I am sayings is that there is such a large body of help available for mod'ing the Grand Prix on Grand Prix sites it would be the best place to start.
F-bodies rock, I would love to have a WS6 T/A, but I would prefer a Vette.

The engine may be mounted differently, but that actually has little or nothing to do with modding it. Sure, the drivetrains are different, but he wasn't asking specific info about those aspects of the car, he was asking about how to increase HP at the engine. Both cars will see similar gains from headers or other exhaust mods, and both cars will see similar gains from intake mods as well (even thought they are different from eachother). If you want to take it a step further with everything, both engines will see similar gains with aftermarket cams and/or rocker arms, and both can have their computers tuned at places like zzperformance.
While it's true that there are a few GP sites out there, people are just fine asking basic questions of V6 Fbody owners.
