View Full Version : My take on the nats

After reading all I've read I would like to say that my engine bay was as clean & as detailed, though not with allot of detailed type items, & yes, there is a difference, as the other cars that did not win.
While I am shocked & "was" happy I won, that happiness became short lived after seeing the post basically stating that since I have a red car that must have been why I got a 3rd place award, so now I feel "guilty".
I did & do feel genuinely sad for the 2 who didn't walk away with an award, even though one of them never once told me good luck, but told the other guy that same phrase on more than one occasion & he was confident that he and/or the other guy would win the class.
Nice way to remember & have feelings about my 1st time out at the nats eh?

i think it's sweet that you drove 20 some hours, chatted with me sat morning while everyone was cleaning in the rain, and walked out with a trophy! sure i'd like to have won something, but i didn't go expecting to win on my first try. mad props and congrats to you for that!!!
plus - you and i know.... zaino > * ;)

Butch you earned and deserved that trophy, your car rocks! I think it's great you drove all the way MA to make the show. IMO the members of this site had the baddest rides in that class, I think you,SilverSurfer, and ZeusJr should have had the top three spots.

I also go to shows not looking for the win.
Of course I finally got started & cleaned for hours after, remember?
The group I was sitting with had to "wake" me to tell me I won.
Rob has a pic of just before hand with me zonked out, nice work Rob! :P
And like I told Dave, behold the power of Zaino!

And to say you only won cause your car was red is :turd:, I know I for one said that but it was ment as a joke, after all there was more then 4 red cars in our class.. :p Thing I don't understand is your car was far better then the Black car that got 2nd..
And congrats again...

Butch--That "red thing" was meant in fun. You placed because your car was good --not because of the color. I do not go to shows expecting to win either. My 2nd place finish in that class was a shock to me last year. I enjoyed your company.
I LOVE YA MAN!
PS --nice sleeping pic.

What class were you in? Being 450+ cars to look at it is hard to remeber every car. As for your car winning bc it is red. Red and black cars must just shine up alot more and give a deeper shine than blue and champaign color cars. I was in GG class.

Dave--you are not allowed to talk to the judges. You will get minus 5 on your score.:(

I say who gives a big hairy shit. I go to car shows to have fun, mingle, and consume amber pilsner beverages. I don't care about some lame ass award, although there are some folks who are deeply offended if they don't win. Whoopteedoo.

Do I hear words of disgust? Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
They were not feeling enough love for your car.:bigkiss:

My take now is that some of us spent way too much time on the little details that make our cars cool and the judges didn't really give a shit about. Props to the guys & girl who did well --but I should have spent more time on other stuff--a great lesson--The nats is always a great learning situation.
We should grow from every experience we have--there is always something to be learned.
You young guys have lots of time to mature and enjoy your cars---you can be driving to the Nats 20 years from now--I'll be luckey to get someone to drive me to the Nats.;)
