Cali has been given a very bad rap. If you can overlook the traffic and the housing prices, there are some amazing places to live. I grew up 20 minutes outside of downtown LA in a small city at the base of some amazing mountains completely covered in trees, etc. There are certainly reasons why so many people want to live here...and it isn't always the beach ;) Personally, I could never live anywhere else.
