i was thinking about doing a cam and was wondering how much more power the MTI stealth 2 cam would make over the ls6 cam.

I ran the MTI Stealth 2 Cam (224/220 0.576/0.581 116 LSA) and the 2002 LS6 Cam (204/218 0.551/0.547 117.5 LSA) through Engine Analyzer 3.0. The MTI did make +19hp on top than the LS6, but gave up a little low end torque.

anyone have a website for the MTI cams?

:werd: i think the ls6 would be more of a plug and play cam as well, just install and go. just raise the rev limiter to take advantage of the new power. and by install and go i mean cam and springs just in case someone wants to correct me ;)

consider the LPE gt2-3 as well; 207/220 .578/.581 118.5lsa.

Would an LS6 cam make a user friendly swapout?

The way I figgure i'm limited by traction + fuel system limitations + I don't wanna break my rear end/tranny. I'm just looking to upgrade the Exhaust and Cam for now (and lower the shot i'm running), maybe i'll do heads later. :\

i have an ls6 cam and i like it.stockish idle and makes descent power.

its not the best out there but its the best for what it costs imo.

As jrp stated, the LS6 cam is a "plug and play". You can expect to see a 20 - 30 H.P. increase. It's also a good bang for the buck.

So, you're saying I can swap the cam only and reasonably expect to get 20-30RWHP (with or without tuning)?

Reason i'm asking this is i'm considering doing an exhaust mod, and the shop i'm going to is recommending I do other than LT's and true duals to warrant my $500 LS1edit tune.. For once, i'm agreeing with a shop. ;) Was thinking a mild increase in cam might be what i'm shopping fer.. :D

Also, where should I shop for a LS6 cam new/slightly used?

you are correct, where the ls6 really shines is at 6k+. there was a 50rwhp gain at like 6500rpm over the stock cam on jmx's GF's car. you start to see gains from 4k+. its a great cam if you just want more top end power. if your looking for more power under the entire curve you'll need a bigger cam.

i'd get the cam new; ls6 cam and springs as a package is like 200 bucks or something like that. definately a great bargin.

to see the best gains you'll want a tune with the cam and LT's and duals. however i dont think i'd pay for a full 500 dollar dyno tune. i'd pick up a MAFT and dial in your AFR and raise your rev limiter and have the stock tuning handle the rest.

with the stealth 2 cam and full exhaust no cats would it sound stock or have a little lope

i actually want the lope but dont want to lose the driveablity

driveability is all about tune, with any cam. honestly i'd get a tr224 114 or if you want more lope get the 112. the stealth through an aftermarket exhuast setup is still someone noticible. i'd only go with a stealth cam if you truely want a stealth setup and not based on driveablity.

i was also considering a tr 224 114 but i wasnt sure if i would work well with the stock converter but i dont want to be stealth

i think you could get by with the tr224 on the stock stall! If i had to make a choice between the two i would go with the ls6 cam;)

do yourself a favor and get a new stall before a new cam ;), something in the range of 3400-4000. then go for a tr224 114.

stealth cams run very high lift -i personally would get at least a TR220 .550 ish lift type cam

What would happen if I went with the Stealth II cam and the new 1.8 Harland sharp rockers and dual coil springs? Would that be the same or much worse on the valvetrain when compared to the 1.7 rockers and single coil springs?

Check my math someone please
wouldn't it put the lift at
.610/.615 with the 1.8's
V/S
.576/.581 with the 1.7's

If I got the dual coil springs good to .625 or .650(i can't remember right off hand which they are good to) wouldn't it be about the same difference as the 918s with the 1.7's?

I understand the springs would still be need to be changed about every 20,000 or so. Thats not a big deal to me.

I don't really care that the dual springs are more expensive if the performance of the car is improved a noticable amount, i just don't want to kill it.

why dont you just get a cam ground to the specs you want and keep the lift under .600 and keep the 918's.

- 300 for HS rockers and another 300-550 for dual springs.
- custom cam: 450.

Well I'm planning to change out the Rockers and springs when I change the cam anyway. So really the only difference in price is between the dual springs and 918s. So like $200-$250 or so.

I like the specs of the Stealth II but I was just thinking about what the end result would be with the 1.8's and dual springs due to the extra lift. :burnout:
