View Full Version : Power seats in a 2001 Transam?

I was curious about the power seats in my car. The driver seat is powered but the passenger not. I know some people with the same car as mine and they have the lumbar seats and both are powered. So why is mine different?

No F-body ever came with power passenger seats from the factory. It's doesn't take much to make it happen though.. :)

my '89 did...

for the 4th gen cars... i thought there were 2 options on power seats. the plain 6-way power seats (for driver side only) and then the full power seats (which included bolsters and lumbar).... i thought the full power seats came on the passenger side also?

i only have the 6way power seat option on my '98 so i don't know for sure...

My 2002 has 6 way power driver seat and power lumbar on both seats.

Manual front to back adjustment on the pass. seat.

i would think w/ the WS6 package they would all be lumbar power seats, but seems regular trans ams are and most WS6's arent.

All 98+ Trans Ams should have power adjustable driver and manual adjustable pass. Both seats should have power lumbar.

For us Formula owners, if we have the power seats, do we have the power lumbar?

I am not sure, but I do know that some formulas did not have lumbar.

Those seats (AQ9) were not available as an option on Formulas.

It was an option only on Trans Ams.

Yes, there were.

AQ9 seats (what you're refering to as "lumbar seats") were available as an option on ALL TRANS AMS, not just WS6s. You could order a WS6 with or without them, it was a separate option code. You could get a non-WS6 Trans Am with them, also.

Tell those people to pack sand.

'00 WS6 here with leather seats. Driver's side is powered but no lumbar on either. What does lumbar support look like? A lever you crank or is it powered?

Note the button arrangement, and the sides of the seat back.

Only if they are equipped with AQ9 seats, which are optional.

The standard equipment seats in a Trans Am do not have lumbar adjustments, and the passenger seat does not have any adjustment at all other than the slider... which is manual. All Formulas have these seats... but they have the option of either cloth or leather upholstery, where all Trans Ams have leather.

Standard seats look like this:

I believe the power lumbar was standard issue on only the 2002 model while it was an option on the earlier models.

It was always optional, even in 2002.
