Chime in on making a list of the most commonly asked lt1 related questions.

The 'which cat back sounds best for my car?' post has got to be my #1 pet peeve. They all flow satisfactorily for our power levels, and the sound is as subjective as how good looking someone is.

Perhaps a sticky thread in the appropriate forum to sound clips of LT1's and LS1's with various exhaust systems? Just a thought.

Dont even think of asking what is the difference between the LS1 and LT1. ;)

Do LT & LS engines use the same gas???
Can I use my buddys LS1 bolt-ons on my LT1???
Thanks!!!

Basically all of the bolt-on questions..

Best headers?
Cold Air?
etc....

Also, how about some tech archives...like information on torque converters, cam profiling blah blah....and maybe even some install tips..

How do you put LS1 brakes on a LT1 car? C5 brakes?
Will a LS1 M6 fit an LT1 car vice versa?
Which cold air induction is better?

That is just a few I see asked all the time.

Obviously common problems:
opticrap, broken tranny mount, window motors, headlight motors, security light, no selectable first gear in Z28's, spark plug install tips, ABS light ect, ect ect....

How do I upgrade my 92-94 opti to the vented style?

And along with that, what are the years and PN's of the 3 timing covers?

Why will my M6 tranny not come out; I pulled all 8 bolts? ;)

A bit of info on the leaking intake manifold would be nice probably...

Great feedback so far. Now..as you all can see there is no way I can do all this myself. If you have knowledge in a certain area and feel helpfull...why not type up a discription/tech notes on a certain area that you think would be helpfull to the lt1 community in general.

Long tubes are way overrated, in fact hooker long tubes really suck.. oh wait, maybe this isnt the thread for this, what were we discussing? :umm:  :p :D

I'm a big fan of Mids, at least on a mildly modified engine. I have SLP sorty's on the car, and am waiting to install a set of Jet Hot Mac mids. My buddy threw on a pair of Hooker LT's and noticed a DECINE from his Mac mids

IMO...unlessyou are going with a big cam on a stock engine (CC306, etc) or, if you are stroked, have a supercharger, etc...the gains ove mids are negligable.

1. Best catback.
2. Best CAI.
3. People looking to buy a used f-body and wanting to know the differences in various years.

I've also got a few lt1 files and common freeware tuning aids that I'd be willing to post if you'd like.

PCM related files. (http://brokenz.nbm2001transam.com/LS2%20Host/)

I'll maintain this for the LT1 forum if you'd like.
The LT1 files I've hosted are:
Modded files.
1. 94Z with HPP+ power tuning, fans set for a 160 thermostat, and shift firm applied.
2. 95TA/ M6 with Jet stage 2.
Stock files obd1.
3. 94 Cadillac/ A4 transmission.
4. 94 Corvette/ A4/ 3.07 gears.
5. 94Z/ A4/ 2.73 gears.
6. 95Z/ B4C option.
7. 95 Caprice/ 9C1 option.
8. 95 Impala SS/ A4.
9. 95Z/ A4/ 3.23 gears.
10. 95Z/ M6/ 3.42 gears.
Files I gathered and told that were stock but am unable to verify because they are obd2.
11. 96 Grand Sport Corvette. (This one I got strait from the original owner so I'm pretty sure of it.)
12. 96 Corvette/ A4.
13. 96Z/ A4/ 2.73 gears.
14. 96Z/ A4/ 3.23 gears.
15. Ws6.

Finally I have posted the T and E side bin files for level 1 and level 2 cars.

I've got a few other things that I'll add to that and have more than enough room for other files if someone would like to add anything PCM related. I'll update this list later on.

Update 1: I added the following programs:
1. Convert command.
2. Freescan.
3. MAF 20.
4. PCM read.
5. Tune convert.
6. VE master.
7. WOT locker.

There is a FAQ thread on camaroz28.com that has a lot of '93 specific info that I have found useful in my travels. Here is a link if you want to pull some info or whatever:

http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2214

Invaluable for my '93 brethren out there. :)

Fuel pump problems/install

Where can I find the number of my car (mainly 97 SS)

Will a C5 IRS fit my Camaro

I have heard those quite a bit. Also, to add to the number one, lots of people want to know how many other f-bodies are built with the same options, color, etc...

Now that I think about it, add relocating the battery to the rear to that list.

There was a big thread on the other site about this when I posted pics of my fuel pump install. If I remember correctly there is a website with detailed instructions on how to cut a hole behind your backseat to directly access the pump from inside the car. That went probably 50/50 on people that hated it and people that loved it. I think a mod edited the link because it promoted a way to decrease your cars structural integrity.

It would be very useful to have a sticky of part numbers like we have on the Impala SS forum. I have that printed out and use it often for reference, shopping and verification.

Impala SS part numbers (http://impalassforum.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=33;t=001279)

Many of LT1 parts are probably the same, too. Whenever someone bought a part, they would just add to the list and if you look at what it has grown to, WOW. :D

With the correct valve springs, you can run either one. If you have a B body, you will need gears & a converter. Should use at least a looser converter in either case.

Good luck, Ed

Why do some Z28's and Formulas have 115 speedos?

Because they were originally equipped with non-Z rated tires. It has nothing to do with gear ratio. As far as I know, all Trans Ams had Z rated tires and a 155 speedo.

That should be 93 only for LT1 models (which was like half of 93). The lower speed ones had yellow numbers instead of white.

My 94 z28 had a 155 in it, but it was a B4C with the goodyear GS z-rated tires & 3.23 rearend.

My 94 formula on the other hand w/o z-rated tires, 2.73 rearend, came complete with the 115 speedo & a 110mph speed limiter. Those two were the first to go.
