I am buying a NOS 5177 kit from a guy on a local board. Are there any other safety provisions or equipment I should/need to buy before I go bolting this thing on. I know I need to change my plugs to TR6's but that's about it. I have a 2001 A4 SS. Currently I have Loudmouth, Lid, ported TB and a Vig 3200 2.17 STR TC. Sorry if this has been addresses before. I read the FAQ and did a search. Answered some questions but I want to set this up as safely as possible. Thanks all.

MSD Window switch and WOT switch (if it doesn't have it already). I wouldn't worry about wires. The filter I wouldn't change unless it has an obscene amount of miles on it. If you really want to get serious, though, a new fuel pump might be in order (walbro 255lph).

I agree with jaywoo. The basics on that kit consist of MSD Window Switch (so you don't spray through your shifts) and a WOT switch. Wires, Fuel Filter, and Fuel Pump aren't needed. But, IMO, you can never have to much fuel. So a fuel pump is a nice safe zone, but NOT needed.

He has an auto:shrug: and the kit should come with the WOT switch.

What does the fact him having a auto have to do with anything?

I'm sure he'd rather preserve his tranny then shifting it on the juice.

Yeah I definitely want to have all safety measures in place for this setup. I realize it will only be 100 dry shot but I would rather be safe if the means to do so is available. Thanks for the replys fellas.

your going WOT when spraying, when spraying you are above 3k rpms, when your car shifts, and you are still going WOT then you will still be above 3k rpms.

But your tranny is taking a big hit shifting on the spray!! One of the guys around here shifted on the spray for 2 months before the tranny had to be rebuilt.
The kit should have a WOT and Fuel pressure safty switch.

The thing that I didn't like about using a window switch was,
unless you set it to cut out at about 400 RPM's before your shift. (5600-5700) As soon as you start to shift the RPM's come down then in the middle of the shift you are spraying again.
IMO a converter helps more in saving the trans.

then dont take ur foot off the gas. i shift right before red line (bout 5800) and when i hit the next gear it hasnt droped a bit. thats how i shift when i am racing. (thank god for rev limiters!!!)
