View Full Version : Replacement hood
Ok, so I FUBARed my hood a few weeks ago in a bonehead moment. The insurance company is paying for a replacement stock hood.
I can get an aftermarket hood if I want but I have to come up with the difference out of my own pocket. The cash is not a problem.
Would you get this hood if you only had to come up with $350 to cover the difference?

It looks much better painted, than in black primer like the other one I've seen. I'd need to see the "functional " Ram Air box first, If it looks solid, I'd say go for it

Looks nice:cool: . Another $275 for the airbox. I would want to see pics of this setup installed before buying.

Not bad. FOr $350 yeah, I'd get it. It's gonna need new wheels though. Your car with that hood and better wheels will be smokin!!

not too bad :dunno: be careful with that company. There is something about them, I can't remember from years back. I almost picked up a sweet hood they had for the Grand Prix's, but they dissaperared for a while:confused:

I saw that on another board. But you're the only one who remembers that. Can you come up with any more details? (not trying to undermine you, just doing my duty as a consiencious consumer and trying to get more information)

No, I understand. It was years ago and I just cannot remember what the deal was, but I do recall some unhappy people and supposed dissapearence of this company when I was going to order thier hood.
There is one guy on newagegto named Murry who responded
"You may have thought they went out of Buiness I wish they had. "Don't like it but thats my opinion only."
Might want to check around and see if anyone has any recent experience with the company. Prolly could dig up some info on clubgp.com.

I remember MPD from when I had my 98 GTP. They did disappear for awhile but they made some sweet looking packages for the GTPs. Here are a few pics of some of their earlier work:

I personally like that GTO hood. It would make the car stand out a lot more IMO.
I like it alot. I'd go for it.

that last one is not the same hood, its a one-off someone made (the scoops are smaller and closer together)

and who makes the metal inserts? I would think by now there would be some sort of aftermarket AutoX kit.
