View Full Version : NA HP vs N2O HP?

I have spray, (100 or 125 shot) yet lately, I've been thinking about trying to make my car faster NA :zoom:.

It has NOTHING to do with cheating(aka: nitrous), etc. It's just that I don't have a bottle opener (prolly wont get one soon) and I wanna improve my car's performance off the juice.

I've been seriously considering lately (given the limits of my fuel system's ability to support over 425 RWHP + the grenading 10 bolt) to lower my nozzle to around a 50-75 shot or so, and spend all the money required to bring my NA hp up to around LS6 level (350ish). I've actually considered putting $2-3K in my car without making it any faster, since the Fuel system + tranny + rear end will tend to grenade at higher levels.

Since my car is a '98 and not a "Wednesday" motor (dynoed 294HP/313TQ with lid)

Just checking if i'm all alone in my thinking... Any opinions/discussion would be appriciated. :worship:

Well I just stuck a N2O cam in mine and dynoed ~340 HP NA (rich as a pig and one bad O2) on a 50 shot I went over 400 HP with the bottle pressure at 750.

I think when I get the tuning staright I will be around 360 NA and 500+ with my 125 shot. I have 2.73's and a 10 bolt but, w/ a linar N2O system! So we will see if the rear holds.

I think if you slap a nice H/C pagkage on your car and you will be more than happy then if you run into any problems you spray the 100 shot. I'm making 440/407 N/A and it's nice to know that i have it on tap at all times. I hope this helps.

I got a quote today on what True duals + Coated LT headers + tuning would cost installed today...

Almost 2 grand.. :2guns:

Besides the fact that's a boatload of money for 30-40 HP, it would make me a sitting duck if the emissions peeps ever took a close look at my car.. :hmm:

I was thinking also since "tuning" is $500 of the above cost, why not pony up and slap in a bigger cam in there and have it all tuned at the same time..

Modding is sure addicting. :dammit: I thought I was done after the Yank.. :help:

Personally i wouldn't bother with the true duals either, but a cam always seems like a fun thing to do.. :drive:

Also, i wouldn't say that modding is addictive really... it's just that... uh.... welll..... ok it's addicting. :D

Here is what I am doing now. I have a strong N/A running car. But my tune on it is a conservative one (21* timing). That in itself is hurting my n/a performance. Buy edit for your self and have 2 tunes, one max power n/a and one a little conservative on timing. I ran a cam only setup on my car with the 10 bolt and made several passes with no problems. How often do you have to have the car tested for emissions?

Every other year, but the thing is they just plug you in and don't even run the car through the sniffer if it doesn't throw any codes.. I'm a little paranoid about failing emissions.. I've been there and done that all I wanna.. :thumbdn:

I just wanna drive my car to work, where I make my money to pay some guy to work on my car, so I can drive to work faster, so I can make more money... etc... etc... :rotfl:

Kinda like the "cocaine" commercial of 10 years ago.. ;)

Well, if you have the codes deleted from the PCM, then you shouldn't have a problem. As long as they don't do a visual, I wouldn't worry about it. Mod Away!!

Hey Matt PM me your number and i will get up hooked up with a friend of mine who does all of my installs for a really fair price. He can do it all! He has done cams, heads, LT's, N20 and any other mods you can think of. He also lives in AZ!
