View Full Version : REal quick....How can I turn the driveshaft

while the front two tires are on ramps and the rear is on jackstands? Tried putting it in gear/neutral and turning the rear tires but it doesn't turn the driveshaft..need help ASAP please...

If you turn the back tires, it should turn the driveshaft.

uh, put it in neutral and use a wrench to use leverage on a pinion bolt.

Negative. Is the pinion bolt the bolt that holds the driveshaft to the rear axle?
Car in neutral, ebrake off, tires in air, turn driveshaft by hand.
Worst case, if you're a girly man, stick some sort of screwdriver/prybar/whatever in the yoke of either end of the driveshaft and turn it that way.

on my car there is more than one, but yes thats correct.
you can use the prybar method described by dope as well. the thing should turn pretty easily though man.
