I don't think using a sponge is the best idea, and I'm sure everyone here will agree with me. :o But then again I'm not famaliar with that particular sort of sponge so it might be some special kind that won't harm the finish. Either way I would stick with 100% cotton, made in the USA. Using a regular sponge is probably one of the worst things you can use to wash a car.

i use towels that i cut up into "washclothes".

just like towels to dry your car - you need good washmits.

i would not recommend sponges because they do not have nap like a towel to grab any dirt that it picks up. plus you can't get a sponge clean - it will always have some crap in all the little holes.

the napa wash mit is the most popular around here. i just cut up towels.

I use a Microfiber mit, and haven't had it scratch anything yet. Easy to maintain, and works very well. Sheepskin works pretty well too, but make sure you get a GOOD sheepskin mit. There are differences...chances are, if you're getting it from Wally world, it isn't the best of quality. Just my $.02.
