You know, for 160-whatever bucks with the breather filter, you'd think the MTI carbon fiber looking lid would be decent and not have issues. I got mine today and was very disappointed. First of all, the thing came boxed awesome and packaged great......but you get to the lid, and first thing i notice, on the back where it meets the air tube that goes to the motor, theres a couple long scratches in the carbon fiber looking part. Then, in the front, where the clips hold it down, the notches cut into the lid for the clips arent cut even at all. One is higher up in the plastic than the other.....finally, the one that takes the cake......around the rear of the lid, where part of it becomes the round part that goes into the accordian thing that feeds to the motor, around the flat area on the bottom of the lid, theres epoxy all over the back "seams":wtf::wtf: As if the lid was molded with it to seal up what otherwise would be exposed.:mad: At first, i was going to exchange it, but now i think i want my money back and i'll go somewhere else for a lid.....thats pathetic if you ask me from a company thats supposed to be decent. Can anyone give me some advice as to what brand to get that gives me a CF-looking lid and performs really good?? I'm pissed off :firey::mad::firey:

Do they all amount to the same amout of gains when doing this mod? I just also want to know what the general consensus is on this company....i thought their quality was supposed to be good.....i guess not  Fuck that, i'm returning this shit and asking for a full refund. This kind of quality is laughable at best. I'd consider used if its CF-looking and in good shape....

MTI is supposed to have good quality. I've heard a lot of good about them from down here in Houston, but I have heard that they get lazy on the less expensive products/services.

They will make you a bad ass 427 though:yup:

Pretty much any lid will give you the same 10-12 rwhp.

Get a Whisper lid, they work just fine. If you want carbon fiber you will pay extra for it.

But, if you spend $160 on a lid from a site sponsor you'd expect some level of quality.

I expect this to get locked once they realize you are "slamming" a site sponsor.

MTI doesn't sponsor ls2.com.

:yup:

So before it does, go with a used whisper lid. You won't lose any performance, but you'll save some $$.

Speaking of MTI lid. Where can I get that stripping around the bottom of it to help it seal?

You know, shit happens though, so I wouldnt totally slam MTI for one crappy lid, but I tend to be pretty open minded. ;)

Definetly....i'm venting here so i dont vent over teh phone to him ;) It still pisses me off to no end, but....we'll see what he has to say. I'd accept a replacement with shipping included as long as its inspected by him and made sure to be free of defect and the seal around the back to be much better quality than the shitty caulk or whatever they used to seal that up....:umm: So we'll see.

I have an SLP lid and wanted to try out a clear lid to see how it would look. Also the SLP lid i have has the AIR provision hole and i took the AIR system out. So i went with MTI since i could never get a TSP clear lid.

Mine looks good but the epoxy work is pretty bad and i don't really like the brittle material.

Thats exactly what i mean....why is it epoxy'd??? :wtf: And a piss-poor job of epoxying the shit at best....do all the lids have that on the back of them?? :dunno::confused::hmm::think:

It's the type of material and how it's made. My SLP lid look great!! It's a different material and seems like it's formed by a stamping process. Only epoxied area is on the bottom side where the neck meets the throttle body. Very clean.

When i put my MTI lid on i thought it was going to snap the tabs off or crack in that area.

Dear Sir,

Sorry that you seem to have received a lid that isn't up to our standards. As a customer of MTI, I certainly want you to be 100% satisfied so I'll be more than happy to offer you a full refund including shipping - no questions asked.

If you'd like me to go back in our warehouse, look through our CF lids and pick you out one that's in excellent condition and send it to you in exchange for the one that you received, I'll be more than happy to do that as well.

Please give me a call directly at the shop (281) 870-8787 and I'll be glad to work with you personally.

 Thank you Dave for addressing my concerns and handling it quickly and professionally. I apologize for "going off" earlier-I was just angry and not happy at all. I did however, feel much better after we talked on the phone earlier and discussed this matter. I am looking forward to recieving the new lid. Again, I also apologize, however I still did not expect the quality that I recieved. Things do happen sometimes, and to everyone it seems at one point or another. I guess it was one of those times. I know your company puts out excellent products and components, and in the future, I'd certainly like to come back to you to purchase more speed/power parts for my vehicles. I thank you again for your prompt and professional help in addressing my concerns.
