View Full Version : I hate birds!

I don't know where to post this question. Thought this might be a good place.

My driveway is surrounded by 4 big trees. Birds like to sit up there and crap on my car all night. During the winter it wasn't so bad, but now there are birds there all the time. I could park in the street, but there are punks that like to throw eggs at cars parked in the street, and a few months ago, someone threw a cinderblock (sp?) through the windshield of a covered TA. Punks.

:help: Does anyone know how to keep birds away? I've heard you can put an owl up, or hang mirrors from the tree to reflect the sun. I've even heard you could put a fake snake in the tree to scare them away. I don't want to be washing my car one day when that snake comes falling out of the tree.

we used rubber snakes on our chimney. worked fine. i've heard about the owl thing but never tried it.

other than that.... spend a few days out there with a bb gun until there are no birds left ;)

That's the EXACT same word I first thought when I read this.
Seconding the motion of "shotgun"

Try the fake owl thing, I've heard it works pretty good.

The other solution would def be a few shotgun blasts to the tree

I think I'll try all the above. :D

The shotgun will also shoot the leaves off the tree so I won't have to rake them during the fall. AND it'll scare those egg throwing bastards away too.

Orrrrrrrrrrrr, you could just cut the tree down, and plant one to replace it further on down your drive. I'm sure it would be easier to move your car instead...that would take care of raking AND the birds :)

I did the owl and the snake thing... worked for a week or two before they realized that neither one moved.... and the birds came back.

I found that the BB gun thing worked for a month or so.... but my neighbors looked at me funny when I was pointing it in the air, and then running for cover as the BB came back down. :D

The owl with the moving eyes would probably help....
