I'm having trouble with detonation. I have called Thunder Racing about my problem, their answer was letting them tune my ECM. I am running TR6 plugs right now and am considering stepping up to a TR55 since this is the plug that was recomended for my car with my mods by T.R. You'll see all my mods in my sig, I have even tried swaping my granatelli MAF with the stock one and it still does'nt help. I have considered buying a Diablo tuner but have heard that the aftermarket tuners arent designed to tune cars with ported heads or aftermarket cams. My only other choices that I know of are to let thunder tune my ECM off the car for $500.00 or tune the car on the dyno for $750.00. Kinda steep I think. Can anyone give me a good alternative suggestion. Thanks

is there anyone that you know that can tune for you? if you have a friend that has ls1 edit, i would ask if you can be added to the list, for like 100 bucks more then the add on fee, which is like 150. so basically for 250 you can have access to ls1 edit, then try to tune it yourself. i think eboggs has a link for the ls1tuning site. Hope that helps a little.

TR55's should make it worse...I think they are hotter thatn TR6's. Contact James @ Runnin With The Devil (sponsor here) & see if he thinks he can give you a custom tune for a Predator that will solve your problems. He has helped many of us thru our issues, and custom tunes are free.

tr55 are for na cars - so that should be what you want. why do you have tr-6 plugs in there?
you need to find a good tuner. if you dont' want to do it yourself (edit) then i would say a predator would be a good choice for you.

I will install TR55's for sure.
For some reason that can't be explained by Thunder they put TR6's in my car when they installed the cam (but never tuned the car). It sounds like I need to buy LS1 edit right? I'm kinda leaning that way, I have been told that I can download free tunes for my cam right? I don't know a lot about the different tuning software. I really appreciate the feed back I'm getting.

LS1edit or a Predator are the only worthwhile tuning tools at the moment.. but there is a new tuner coming soon from HPtuners that is reported to be as good or better. If you look in the Methods & Procedures forum there is a link there to the HPtuner site :) as for downloading a tune to put directly into your car ...I would be surprised if that works right off the bat.... most cars will all perform differently with identical MoDs so I would use those tunes to view/compare and experiment with but I would not copy it into my PCM :) ( phsycially you can't anyway as the segment numbers/VIN won't match, but you could copy/paste)

if you do it yourself you're gonna need a laptop, a scanner (atap or efi), and edit...... so just make sure you know what alll that will cost you. plus - you'll have to do all the research to learn how to tune ;) not trying to scare you out of it - because that is what most of us here do to our cars. but from your initial post it didn't sound like you wanted to get into tuning yourself....

Thanks, I do want to get in to tuning my car. I'd rather spend the money on the Diablo and be able to edit my ECM again later.
