View Full Version : h/c vs FI
i need a some FI info so i figured i'd hit you guys up. im putting together a little h/c internal guide and would like to know the approximate cost to do a FI setup right as a comparison. meaning a reliable, daily driven, tuned setup. and i dont mean the cheapest possible way either by running your injectors 100% duty cycle, skimping on a good fuel pump, ect.

For a good turbo setup on an LS1 car, i'd expect it to cost $5000 and up depending on a few factors. For around that cost, you shouldn't have much of a problem getting a reliable, very streetable setup.

varies depending what brand you go with too..
if you go procharger, d1sc, probably 4200 for the kit, plus 300 for injectors, 100 for the fuel pump, 0-600 for install, 300-600 for tuning (plus dyno time)
so 4900-5800? sound about right? low if you install yourself and have a good shop with low tuning prices, more if they install it.
mine was more because I did a rebuild at the same time to get a more reliable compression ratio, and did the heads and cam too.. :)

thats about what i figured :D. when doing FI do you need the supporting bolt ons to make good power or is a completely bone stock car and just the blower setup properly sufficient?

What ever, alot of people have done heads/cam and s/c. Its not as uncommon as you think as long as its done right.:)

You'd want to spend the little extra money on the supporting bolt ons anyway. Once you start stuffing air down your car's throat, you'd want to make it as easy for her to breathe as you can. Your car will make somewhat decent power with all the factory stuff, but she'll really start to sing when you get a better flowing exhaust... especially with a turbo.
