About to buy some 18x9.5 Z06 rims and a prokit to level it out nicely. Just wondering if anyone knows the approx. difference in clearance betweeen the prokit w/ 18's and stock springs with 16's.

Only askin b/c I have LT's and a custom y pipe, which I dont have clearance problems with now and I dont want any problems with it once the rims and springs are on.

Pro Kit, with LT's and 18's, you will have to be careful. The Y-Pipe probably hangs lower the headers

my opinion is the BMR springs are better for street cars with long tubes-less drop

I'm looking at the BMR and Hotckis now. Little less drop. The pro kit and 18's look good, but I'm afraid I will mangle the underside.

I have the pro kit and 18 by 9.5 Chrome Z06's , as long as you get them in the right offset you have NOTHING to worry about

the wheels you choose shouldn't generally matter... a larger diameter wheel generally has a smaller width tire, which compensates for the distance in height.. any tire/wheel combo for our cars will be about 26.change inches tall...

the real questino at hand for you is prokit + longtubes... you should be okay as long as you don't pick a low-hanging brand i.e. SLP or FLP... pacesetter/hooker/jethot are very popular and do well with these

i run prokit, pacesetter LTs, 3" true duals, and have run both 18x10.5 z06's on back and 17x11 AR 200s's... never had a clearance problem :)

Thanks, I already have the headers, there Jet Hots and its more the y pipe that hangs the most although not bad. Im going to try and compare the BMR's and the Prokit...I just bought the wheels and should be here within a week or so.

So who's got pics of bmr's or prokits with 18's?

here's a pic of 18x10.5 + 17x9.5 combo, pro-kit, longtubes & duals... and i even have a huge ass sub box in the back weighing me down, plus full interior (all seats/panels/etc)

and here's a pic w/ 17x11 + 17x9.5 combo, same setup for the rest... somewhat better for seeing clearance

The size of the rim does account for some of the overall height of the tire and wheel. But you can adjust that with the size of the tire. Not really sure of you're concerned with hitting the top of the fender or the inside of it. There is a tire calculator around here somewhere. An 18" wheel with a 35 series tire is approx. the same height as a 16" wheel with a 50 series tire.
