For those of you that havent see it all ready. GM Truck Recall (http://media.gm.com/servlet/GatewayServlet?target=http://image.emerald.gm.com/gmnews/viewmonthlyreleasedetail.do?domain=74&docid=2855)
Mine broke about two weeks ago while some friends were sitting on it. Just havent had time to go get new ones. Now I can get some for free. :D

Whats bad is my dad has a 04 GMC and he got the recall on it and I still haven't got one for my 02 Chevy.

I havent gotten one either. I went and bought some the other day but talked to the service manager first. He pulled my vin an gave me the printout where is showed no current recalls. He told me to keep my receipt and bring it, the printout and my recall back when I got it and they would reinburse me for the cables I bought.

Go ahead and take it in for the new cables anyway. Mine was working fine too then all of a sudden, snap! Both of my cables broke within 5 min of each other.

I still haven't received a notice. I see that the article mentions certain 2000-2004 Silverados. I didn't think there would be a difference.

Got mine, I guess I will eventually get it done, but my tailgate is hardly ever opened.

Well i hardly ever uses mine. Then I opened it and they both broke at the same time when I opened it to load a box. When it fell it fucked up my custom pained eyeball. The dealership said they werent responsible to fix that. I was pissed.

I believe you can get rembursed for the money you paid to get them just go to the local dealer and ask if the recall applies on your truck, and tell them you already replaced them with the new stainless steel ones and they might remburse you.
