I had once painted my brake calipers while they were still attached to the car using Q-tips, but it didnt turn out too well, so I redid them by removing them from the car, Dremeling most of the old paint away and getting rid of the casting marks.

I removed the wheel, unbolted the calipers from the frame, and removed the brake pads. I shoved newspaper inside of the caliper to prevent paint from getting inside the caliper and then I used a sheet and draped it over the wheel well and fender. The brake lines are still connected to the calipers, but the sheet covers them.

After Dremeling and Sanding:

After a couple coats of red Dupli-Kote Brake Caliper Enamel:

Vinyl decals applied to bare paint:

After clear enamel applied over the decals. Not only does this protect the decals and the paint from rock chips and from peeling, but it makes the calipers easier to clean as brake dust washes right off.

I dont know, but I didnt use any. I used regular spray clear enamel that I bought at Menard's. It has held up with no problems.

took my tires off tonight, so I'll be starting soon. I bought 3 different cans of red high heat paint in hopes of finding one close to my car...we'll see...nice pics

Here's mine, I'm not sure if I like them without the Trans Am decal they used to have, they look kinda plain now.

Did mine about a year and a half ago. Did it with 4 coats of 500 degree spray paint and 3 coats of clear. I think they've held up quite nice :D
