Well I'm gonna tackle it  my Moser 12-bolt whines and howls like a bitch at decel & coast. I just removed it from the car (doing a few other things too :secret: ) and need to clean her up and check the backlash, tooth pattern, etc..

Well 1st Q - whats a good cleaner that will not attact the Eaton Posi unit or bearings?? Will brake cleaner be OK?? :eek2:

2nd Q - Found quite a few install instructions on the net but does any one else have links too ones they think are good??

3rd Q - Installation packages.....will any for a 12-bolt do or is the Moser special in any way??

Thanks guys

No one can help???

Little update....

From a quick inspection in good light you can see that the drive side favors the heel. From what I've read this means that the pinion shim is correct and a decrease in backlash is required if the coast favors the heel. Otherwise if the coast favors the toe the backlash is correct but a thicker pinion shim is required. Now if it is the case that only the backlash needs to be adjusted would be OK to just tighten it up even with about 2K on the rear since the install or will things need to be completely redone??

And if you haven't read the breather Q...

Oh last thing the breathers on the Moser rear are on the axle tube and even with 1 1/2 feet of tubing hung up it piss fluid all over the rear and muffler and in the end it is lower on fluid. How can I resolve this?? Place breather near top of pumpkin?? Any input??

1st q: brakleen should be cool. It's just gonna get lube on it again, so don't go overboard

3rd q: I believe they use standard "car 12 bolt" parts. (truck 12 bolts varied, I believe in the pinion bearings & gear.)
