Should I consider 3:73's? I am considering a bigger cam w/S2 heads here this summer. I don't race the car, but like to cruise around. I have to drive 40-50 miles a day when I do drive the car round trip, so I would hate to kill the gas mileage, but the cam/heads setup is going to do that anyway. What kind of feel would the car have with them compared to the 323 it has now? Thanks!

If you do alot of street driving that also includes highway I wouldn't go any lower than 3.42's since your an A4. With 3.23's already I wouldn't mess with it but you might consider a little higher stall instead.

Thanks for the advice. Is it harder to hook on the streets with 373s also?

Yes it will be harder to hook on the street with 3.73 gears:cool:

Hell its hard for me to hook up with just 2.73's on the street. :D

But I'm really thinking about going with 3.42's or 3.73's. Bad thing is that I want best of both worlds. 3.42's for gas mileage and 3.73's for acceleration. A lot are saying that the 3.42's would be a better choice for my application which is pretty close to yours.

I don't think I would go to the trouble of going from 323 to 342, but I would certainly go from 273 to at least 342. No disrespect. I guess I need to see how much the guy who is going to install my h/c setup would charge also:) You might be on your way to low 12's high 11's with that setup...

That's what I'm shooting for.

I have 3.73 coupled to a Y3000 2.0 STR (rather mild) converter, and I do not have many problems hooking up with street tires.

I have a full rear suspension upgrade using all BMR parts coupled with the RKSport solid front & rear sway bars, and SLP sub frame connectors, with stock springs and shocks.

How's your mileage? Sounds like a great setup!

My milage has dropped from 21 MPG (stock converter) to 19.5 MPG with the Yank TC, HOWEVER, I will gladly give up some gas milage, for the performance gain. The vehicle is alot more responsive and fun to drive.
