I've got a little over 56,000 on my truck and the Transmission is acting real weird, I can't really explain it, I think it might be the tranny fluid. It's time for it to be changed anyway.

What is a good Transmission Fluid at a low cost?
(I'll probably change it very soon again anyway) Please give the brand and weight and whatever else I need to know! I don't know crap about it - my girlfriend's dad is going to help me do it (he doesn't know anything about a truck made after 1991).

How much do I need to buy?

Where do I get it from?

Any tips on changing it?

Thanks guys!

Anything non-synthetic and Dextron approved. I believe the manual states 5qts with filter change. Filter is really not that important to change since it is essentually a screen and everything falls off of it into the pan when you stop anyway. If you remove the drain plug be carefull not to strip the head off. It is an aluminum bolt and is very soft.
