After being "yelled at" at a few times and obvious issues with fuel on the dyno (they did not have a WB  I am thinking about putting a bung and wideband in my cutout.
My thought being that the wideband sensor will last longer since it will only have to take readings and get superheated during tuning sessions or at the track. I suppose I would run a bit rich the rest of the time due to backpressure:confused:
Comments
I also have USB EFIlive, so integration with that would be a great :help: (I have not got an answer on the EFIlive forums yet)
Thanks

Not a bad idea.... I have no experience myself but have read lots of arcticles on putting a sensor in ... but up at the top between the head and collectors and I was always concerned about first getting in there to do it and second getting a quality job done so the bung wouldn't leak or just generally corrode away, but putting it in the cutout, or even in the Y may be a damn good idea, plug it when you are not using it, as long as you can get the cabling to reach :)

There is a nice wideband O2 setup just offered that uses the same O2 sensor as my Motec. Check it out at http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/

Thanks drptopz, the EFIlive guys did get back with me and said they would also (probably) be supporting this wideband since people seem to be snatching them up.
O.K. Now what is the best way to run the wire out of the car?

The sensor cable on the web page is 10ft long so anyway you like .... there may be a rubber plug in the firewall like a lot of vehicles have.... I haven't had the carpet back so I'm not sure ... and if not I usually find a convenient spot on the firewall under the rug that's easy to reach from in and outside and drill a hole big enough to feed the cable :)

Super ..... we will be awaiting your product analysis once you get it hooked up and some sample data logged :)

I have an Innovate and I like it. Only prob is, the stock 02 hole is too close to the cat, and it creates an error after 15-20 minutes(because of heat).
They told me this would not happen. Klaus told me this, actually, and he the master genius there.
I got enough info in the 20 minutes to make the purchase worth it.
You can weld the supplied bung inot the pipe though, to avoid this problem.

I spoke with them too about placement and they told me to put it at the end of the Y too. If I was feeling real sporty, they said a lot of folks are usuing them in place of their "real" O2's having the unit send the info to the PCM instead. I dunno about that...

i thought i saw a blurb in the latest gmhp magazine about them adding a wide band o2 sensor. i did not read the article - so if anyone has it..... please post up if it was worth reading. i vaguely remember a pic showing them puttting between the cat and stock o2 sensor? :dunno:

According to the instructions that came with my Motec setup (http://www.motec.com/products/plm/plm.htm) , they recommend approx 30 inches from the combustion chamber, and parallel with the ground.
We have found that just after the collector on long tube headers seem to be about right.
I have also tested before vs. after cat. converter, and it DOES effect the readings. Unfort. on some cars, with cats, you cannot avoid putting it after the cat.
Since the innovative unit uses the same O2 sensor as my Motec, I would guess that the same guidlines would apply.
