Does anyone have the KYB AGS shocks? They look to be pretty nice for the money. 5-way adjustable I think they are. Any info is appreciated.

They aren't so good. They are 8 way adjustable, and you get what you pay for. I sell them if you *really* want them, but I don't ever choose to use them. The lower settings are too soft, the upper settings are firm enough to damp high rate springs, but ride like a brick doing so which makes the car jump around over bumps too.

Lots of better options, but of course those depend on what you want the car to drive like and what springs you are going to use.

from what i've heard they go from too soft to too hard and don't have the ride quality of the Bilsteins- for the dragstrip they aren't as good as the QA1's but for the price they will work ok

Thanks Sam. What I really want is a shock that I can set to handle the curves pretty well, and then soften up a bit for a good drag strip launch occasionally. Without breaking the bank of course. If I could afford the QA1s I'd just get them. They seem to be able to go from killer drag shocks to good road shocks. I don't think you can have one set of shocks that can go from wheels up at the drag strip to 1.25g at the road course:mad:

The QA1's have the drag part down, but not good road shock part down, at least compared to other shocks. The HAL's have a very similar issue to the KYB's in that the adjustment valve is the same type setup. They tend to ride better, but only because they won't get a firm in the first place. Of course, then they lack damping.

You can run Koni's. That'll certainly take care of the road portion with ease. And you can turn them WAY down for the strip. I usually run my fronts about 2/3 to the stiff side for the way I like the car to feel. @ full stiff they will damp about a 600 lb spring. And Koni's range from soft to hard generally doubles the rebound. Which means if you turn them down, you have a shock that is just suitable for the stock springs. I think it's a little soft for driving hard, but better for weight transfer.

I suppose it comes down to what's most important. Seems to me that the car is driven a lot more than drag raced. And it's not just the handling we are concerned with here on the street side, but also the ride which the shocks effect as well.

FWIW

Agreed :yup:. Deffinatley driven more than raced, and most races come from a roll. I guess I really need to pick an all around driver shock. If I start drag racing more often; I will just have to save up for the QA1s:)
Thanks for the insight :nbmta: :D .
