I Dawned my car and then used a claybar on it for the first time, after I finished I Dawned it again and found the paint to be the cleanest I have ever seen. I had to use some rubbing compound to get some clay off, probably because I did it in the sun like an idiot, but my car looks sooooo much better now and everybody should claybar their car before the first wax of the spring. Just don't do it in the sun like some idiots do.

if you have clay residue - you didn't use enough lube there. you should not feel the clay "catch" the paint... if so you need more lube. the clay should "glide" across the paint.
if it does catch - it'll leave a clay streak. just clay that area again and it will remove itself ;)
good work!

Clay bars are the shizzle...I use one every time before I even touch my polisher or wax.
Clay Bars are one of the best paint detailing items to come out to the public in years....

does claying it remove any of the clear?? or does it just slide across and remove the contaminants sitting on top of the paint??
basically I'm wondering if you can clay a car too much??

No, it will not harm the paint or clear. I think it is the same as Playdough, it lifts off of newspaper too

I already had a friend wet-sand my car and it came out great. Very, very smooth so I am curious to see what claying it is gonna do for me.
I have a little overspray on the inside of my window on my tint. I've tried a few things to take it off but I can still feel it on there.
Any suggestions??

I still haven't mastered claying. I had serious problems the first time I did it and I just can't bring myself to do it again. I have white spots all over the car after claying :(

When i clayed my car it seemed to work very well at getting all the contaminats off the car when it wasn't lubed very well. When i had it lube a lot it didn't seem to take much up.
Claying the car takes a long time plus i wash it before and after.

alright, if the weather holds out, I'm gonna try to clay my car this weekend. I know you should wash it with dawn before and after you clay it. do you need to dry it before you claybar it?? since you have to have it wet to clay it anyway?? I know its a dumb question but help me out.

no =- doesn't need to be dry. make sure it is perfectly clean those because you don't want the clay dragging specs of dirt across the paint.
wash it good, clay it, wash again, then dry. apply wax/polish of choice.

A good way to tell if ur car needs clay bar lovin is take the wrapper from a cigarette pack and put ur fingers inside and rub the car... hood finders anywhere... if it feels like sandpaper it needs a clay bar.. its also a good way to see the difference... before and after

I am about to start the whole process in the next couple of days.... my question is once I dawn then clay the car... what next? how do i remove the clay, just hose it off then dawn again immedietly after? or is there a special way to take the clay off?
Thanks

u shouldnt have clay on your car to take off.... just get the car wet and glide the bar over ur car... keep it wet otherwise it will leave a clay streak.. if it leaves a streak u need more lube.... when you are done claying the car wash the car again

so after the claybar has been applied... there should only be lube left over on the paint? then just rinse that off and wash it?

yeah pretty much... u may find a few places where the clay bar smeared and stuck on the paint... juust clay them again and the bar will lift them off.... rinse the car then give it a good wash and u are ready to wax

the clay should glide across the paint. if you feel it "stick" anywhere - it means you need more lube and you've probably left a clay streak there. apply more lube and continue to clay. the clay bar will remove clay streaks.
when you are done... wash the car as normal and dry. apply wax/polish of choice.
