Tried it this weekend and all i can say is wow. I simply cannot believe that my car dried without me touching it. Not even in the spoiler area. We all know how the spoiler area in trans am's are. They are a PITA to dry. The windows had no water spots on them, looked perfect. Anyway, beyond the drying part my car has never been more shiny. Maybe its just my eyes(i do use zaino)but this stuff must have a little something extra in it.

Picked it up at walmart for 20 bucks. Best 20 bucks i've spent in a long time.

Mr. Clean AutoDry :worship: :worship:

What exactly is it? A type of soap or something?

Man, I've been waiting to use mine now since I got it over a month ago

Guess I'll have to wait till the weather breaks here in PA - what color is your car? I figure washing my Black TA in high noon sun should put it to the ultimate test

I've heard good things about it. A few people thought it left a slight film though. I may go pick this up though as I can't stand drying my car. Drying the car is one reason why I never get around to doing a full polishing day.

Hmmm...so is it the soap that makes it work or could you use Z7 with it?

This is definitely interesting. Maybe I'll try it on my wife's car :D

Well, it comes with a filter and some soap and the unit itself. You load the "PUR" filter in the gun lookin thingy, then fill the soap up to the line. It has a few nods on it . Water on/off, stream, soap and mist. Spray your car down with the water and then spray soem soap on it. Wash it like you'd normally do. Once your finished you just rinse it off. Go watch a little tv, post up on LS2.com and when you come back, bam it's dry. :worship:

My car is maple red metallic btw.

How long do you think the filter and soap that comes with the unit lasts? Also how much are the refills?

I don't think so, according to the website the soap that comes with the unit is a special polymer based car wash.

I bought one today and used it, but didn't have the patience to wait for it to dry itself, and I just used my absorber.. I'll give it another shot in a week or two when it's not so windy out.

I'll try it once the weather gets nice. I'm still skeptical on it though.

What I did this afternoon...

I prewashed the car with the Z7 carwash because I wasn't ready to totally trust the Mr Clean soap.

Rinsed car off completely.

Sprayed the car down with the Mr. Clean soap and rewashed the car.

Rinsed car off completely.

Set the thing to the filtered misting water and misted the car down with it.

Sat on my ass for a good while and then went out and checked on the car. The car dried with NO SPOTS!!! This thing has passed the ultimate test which is a black car. This is the best 19$ I've ever spent on car washing stuff.

Can you just wash your car like you usually do, and then use the Mr. Clean Autodry filtered water to spray it down? Is that what you did BlackWs602? Also, is Turtle Wax Carwash a good soap?

I'm a member at Autopia and searched alot on this before I buy it. I never saw a really negative review. No one has said it doesn't work.

so you spray your car with water, then the mr. clean soap, then you use your sponge, using the mr. clean soap and normally scrub your car then rinse it with the filtered water:D

Most of the complaints are that it takes too long, and you could have easily dried the car by then, sceptical on the non wax removing part, soap and filter don't last long, and leaving of residue. Some of them talk about a water deioizer that is like $60, but it works and the filters last longer for the same price. Plus you can use your own soap. I can put a link up if anyone wants.

Here is the link to the reviews (http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28653&highlight=Autodry+clean)
and here is the link to the de-ionizers (http://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/SoftenersMineral.htm#DI)
They also discuss the de-ionizer more later on in the thread.

Man, thanks for the review. Somebody said it left some kind of residue on their car and that is what I was worried about. Thank God I didn't try it and screw up my wax job
You saved me 94NDTA, I was going to buy it

94NDTA

No prob, I thought it sounded cool, but it turn out it does a really crappy job of de-ionization and has a polymer in the soap....not something I need from a soap.

Sounds like something that would be really handy for me right now. I'm not worried about a film or screwing up the wax job since the car will be repainted this summer. I'm just looking for an easy way to kkep it clean right now.

Anybody know how much the refill stuff costs? I didn't get 3 full washes out of the "starter" kit, need to buy more soap and filters..

94NDTA

I think the filters are $17....as for the soap I have no clue.

I used it this weekend, and I was happy with the results.

I was pretty skeptical while I was rinsing. I was standing there looking at all the water clinging to my windows after I was done thinking I had been ripped off by Mr. Clean. I went inside to take a shower and came out a few minutes later to see spot free windows. All of them. The entire car dried PRACTICALY spot free on my black TA. There were some spots from "user error" and where we usually get spots...under side mirrors, spoiler/rear bumper. I'm thinking those can be eliminated with a little more practice and experience with the product.

Also, when the car was dry, I went through a drive thru and had to roll my window down. We all know what happens when you roll your window down after you just washed your car. The window came up wet but it dried clear. So I rolled down the passenger window. I got the same results. :D

I'm not saying you should go out and buy the product, I'm just tellin others about my experience. I don't think the process is perfect though. My mitt got really dirty, so I had to keep cleaning it. It doesn't get that dirty when you use a bucket. I don't see the benefit of spraying the car with the soapy water. Next time around, I'll probably just pour the Mr. Clean soap in a bucket and add water to it like a normal soap. I must have picked up that nozzle 50 times to spray the soap.

Cliff notes:
Mr. Clean car wash...:)

I picked up some refills today - the filter refill (good for 10 washes, it says) was $5.47, the soap refill was $4.36.

I've used it twice now on the Firebird and once on the Caravan. No residue, streaks, or spots. This thing rocks!

Just used it today, on a Black Firehawk, very good results, but I have a gallon of Meguir's Gold Class car wash soap and I have the following question:

Has anyone tried to use other brands of soap with their Mr. Clean system? How has it worked?

Most of the "upper end" car washes have polymers with them, they are AKA "shine enhancers".

On autopia, another member tried a different soap and it didn't work as affectivley. Most of the quick drying comes from the soap because the de-ionizer is very poor.

:umm: That looks like someone that didn't properly rinse the soap off, and probably didn't properly use the filtered water.

I've used it three times now and the car has dried spotless, filmless, and perfect

The first time I used mine it worked just as advertised and I was amazed. Unfortunately last weekend didn't turn out the same. It left filmy spots on my car. Somehow I think it must have been spraying soap with the rinse water because I rinsed it 3 times and it still left the film. I'm going to drain all of the soap out of it and try it again this weekend and keep the soap in a wash bucket.
