Whats the deal?, On my 99 is 5/16 going to work or should I go with 1/4?
I have read around, 6" longer than the cam, Homedepot rod etc...

I can't afford the JPR tool, nor do I want too and didn't know if it works on the trucks anyways, it should?

I havn't ruled out magnets either.

Whats everyone having luck with?

The JPR tools worked fine on my 2000. My buddy still hasnt come and gotten them yet so I can measure them tonight and let you know what size rod yo would need.

5/16th rod and you will have to sand them down a few thousandths and test fit until they go in smooth. You may have to turn the cam to get them in all the way. Be sure to coat them well with oil and DON'T force them, just keep sanding.

screw a tool...just get a set of ported heads...pull the stockers and pull the lifters out and do it that way!!! that's what i did this time...the previous 2 cam swaps i did though i had luck with the turn the cam and pray nothing falls method but i get very stressed at the time of removal with that method. Creed, you put the HALS on your truck didn't you? could you pm me or email me with everything you had to do to make them work please, much appreciated. thanks

Matt
