hahahahaha get over it and deal.
Most of my friends, who are not car people, say it looks like a Grand Am when they first see a GTO picture.
I personally think it looks like the old 1999 Grand Prix coupe with some 1999 Cavalier Z24 lines in the C pillar area.

I could never get them confused..... but I guess I am used to seeing lots of Holdens every day. I personally can't figure how anyone who declares to be a car 'enthusiast' could not easily pick which is which (other than at 500 yards maybe).
Many 2 door sedan based coupes share a similar profile but they are all different enough that it is basically impossible to confuse them. If you think that GTO/Cav are similar then I guess you also get the BMW 3 Coupes mixed up with them from side on???
GTO vs Cav... they are not even the same size/class of car. That should be the first clue. Not to mention the front and rear of either vehicle not sharing anything in common.
Get a grip guys! Otherwise I'll start a Mustang vs Hyundai Tiburon or T/A vs Hyundai S Coupe comparison  :2guns:

hahahahaah the C pillar area and the door window glass of the Cavalier and GTO look very similar.
Side by side one has larger proportions than the other but both share similar lines and shapes in their bodys.
My boss had the funniest reaction to the new GTO so far.
I showed him the official brochure the other day.
When I opened up the first page his eyes were drawn to the pic of the 1960s GTO.
He was all excited saying "Wow they really went for the all out retro look." Then I pointed out the real GTO pics. His reaction then sank and he was like "mmmmm okay .. whatever".
Not a good sign since my boss is the target demographic. He's in his 40s, owns his own business and has disposable income where he can consider cars like the Lexus IS300 and Infinity G35.
If I was in charge it would be back to the drawing board for GM's styling department.
I find that most people who have looked at mine have other reactions. With only one single exception, everyone I have talked to has had a positive reaction when looking at the car in person.

GM didnt design the GTO... Holden did.
GM designed pontiac parts for the monaro. I love how everyone yells at GM like they designed it... :lame:

Sometimes people don't exaclty express their opinons as not to hurt someones feelings :dunno:

But would they all feign enthusiasm for this car, pointing out how they like certain aspects of it? That is the reaction I've gotten from everyone who has looked at the car with me standing next to it.
The only person who said they didn't like it didn't even get near it. He was a moron behind a parts counter and only looked at it through the window. He looked to be about 50+ so he's probably stuck in the everything-needs-to-be-dripping-with-chrome-and-handle-like-an-overloaded-garbage-truck-to-be-a-muscle-car crowd. He probably hates every car made past about 1973 or so.

beats me, only you know since you talked with the people.
For the record, for not too much $$ you can make a 60's muscle car handle everybit as well as a modern day machine, except the exotics ie zo6. viper ect.

Perhaps the people who have seen your car adhere to the old adage of "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all". Only you know since you were there and I obviously was not.

hahahaahahah nice stereotyping job. Don't knock the chrome. BMW is still using chrome on their current cars. Jaguar also uses a good amount of chrome on their current cars.

I know. Subtle chrome is good. But there are some people who don't know when enough is enough.

When people ask me if its a Cavalier I say yes. I just put some GTO badges on it and a 350 HP engine in it.
Then I smoke their ass. :drive:
