so tuesday the light came on and i popped the hood i saw i forgot to hook back up a hose to my CAI...the light went off. ok i thought that was it.

now today it came on again, i thought it was the same thing since i didnt put the clamp on the hose, just popped it on. but no the hose is still on????

but my high fan was on which i thought was weird considering my temp was at about 170-180. i thought those didnt kick in unitl about 190-200 degrees:think:
so i go to have the code read at auto zone and it wont read it. the machine kept saying linking error so it didnt work.

so would the fans somehow cause the light to come on:dunno: i cant think of anything else, never had any problems with it. i have 66,XXX miles on it, 95 formula.

cliffnotes:
would the fans somehow cause the SES light to come on? and where can i take it to have the code read?

If there is no real code the light will go out after driving for a whi
le and the code will be stored.

It sounds like you may have a loose connection on one of your sensor wires as you car is running in "Limp Home Mode"

LHM is when the fans come on high and the computer goes into enrichment, your gas mileage will get real bad.

Usually the check engine light is on when this happens and you get a stored code.

Check all your sensor connections,I once bent the prong in my MAF connector and was getting LHM and a code,I fixed the connector and all was well.

Try taking back to Autozone for the freescan, maybe he did not have the connector all the way in.

Check the air pump fuse, this fuse is located in the fuse box under the hood.

If their scanner will do OBD 2 it should do OBD1.

What type of scanner do they use?
