I will be pulling my interior out to run wireing for my new amp and componets next weekend and I want to lay down some sound deadening material while I have it out. What are your opinions of the different brands out there? Everyone compares to Dynamat but it is soo dang expensive. I am thinking of going with B-Quiet Extreme because of the cost. ($100 for 100sqft). Since I have a reg cab truck, I think I could double layer everything with that much material doing the doors, floor and back wall. The main reason I want to do this is because my exhaust has gotten overbearing since I removed my cats. Any opinions or suggestions would be appriciated.
b-quiet works pretty well, i actually like it as well if not better than dynamatt, my fav is v-block because of its polymer compound it turns the sound into heat instead of just weighing down the panels

I've had great luck with B-Quiet Extreme and would highly recommend it. Easy to work with and it sticks really well!

B-Quiet turns the sound into heat also. How else do you think the B-Quiet Extreme could have less mass than the original Dynamat and work better than it? Same thing goes for Dynamat vs. Dynamat Extreme, look at how much less there is on the Dynamat Extreme and it works better than the original Dynamat.
v-block isn't the only one who suspends a solid in an elastic type substance to use the sound engery to move the solid within that elastic substance to create heat! :)
PS - That's just naming a few sound deadener products that I'm aware of, I'm sure there are others out there that employ this type of technology.
i agree which is why i said i like b-quiet better than dynomatt (orginal dynamatt) did not mean to sound misleading. in fact most materials work in that fashion now, and i would go so far as to say most are exactlly the same just sold under different names.

if money is not a concern, dynomat extreme is hands down the best. Now, if you are looking for the best bang for the buck, then the bquiet products are good alternatives.
Yes, all sound deadeners turn sound into heat. It's basic physics. Energy is never lost, just transfered into other mediums.

From my reasearch on the net, I have found there are two popular typed of deadners, the asphalt based with aluminum constraining layer and the polymer based with vinal constraining layer. Although each manufacurer submit different ALF numbers for thier produce, I am sure all the asphalt based products are very similar. I have yet so see any numbers on the polymer based products.

Hope you are planning on a loooooong install of the bquiet. I got 100 sq ft about a year ago, and still havent finished getting all the vibrations out. It seems like everytime I dynamat one spot, two more start to vibrate...:o

I am setting aside all day saturday for it. I am double covering everything from the windows/backglass down so that includes the doors, floor and back wall. I think it will get the job done... well I hope so anyway.

I did my car last spring with 100 sq ft of B-Quiet Extreme. I double and triple layered some parts of the hatch, and got at least a single layer under the seats and over the center console. I didnt have enough for the doors, so I didnt even bother with those, but even with just the floor, walls, and hatch done, there was a significant improvement. My car has LT headers, a 112LSA cam, and a Loudmouth, so its pretty loud. With the windows up and T-tops on, you can maintain a normal conversation with a passenger while cruising. Dont get me wrong, you can still hear the exhaust very well, but its not dominating.
I spent about 6 hours installing this over the course of two days. If you look at the pictures below, you'll see I took care to not cover up the drain holes, and I spent extra time cutting and shaping the various pieces to conform to what I was applying them to, which took extra time.
Many of you have probably seen these pictures before, but heres some pictures from the install for those who havent.

Constrictor: How much did all that cost you? I too need to run new speaker wire, as well as some power lines for a few amps, so plan to pull the interior of the car. While I have it out, it might be worth throwing down some sound deadening material. Just don't want to spend a ton on it. Also, I assume that it is sticky on 1 side so it stays in place?? Sorry, never dealt with any of this stuff before.

Thanks for the compliments. I bought that stuff back in Jan of last year. B-Quiet used to be a sponsor of the old site and had a 10% off sale so for the 100sq ft, and this stupid wooden roller that I bought (waste of money) with shipping, it was something like $130. I think it was worth it though (not for the roller - it kept breaking).
Id say it took me about an hour to pull out the interior (its pretty easy to do, except the front seats. Theres one nut on each side that is a bitch to get at.
After getting the interior out, Id say I spent about 5-6 hours putting the material in. I did it over the course of two days. This is all detailed in the Project Resurrection Journal on my site.
Yes, the material is sticky only on one side. The sticky side is black, the other side is that metallic color you see in the pix.
One word of advice, do this on a cool day. I did mine when it was about 60 degrees out, and that makes the stuff a little less sticky. If you live in a hot weather climate and dont have that opportuynity, stick the stuff in a refrigerator over night or something and cool it down, so it will be easier to apply. This stuff gets gooey when its warm.

Thanks for the info. I'm sure a cool day won't be hard to come by up here in Alaska ;)

I used air duct insulation in my harch area to quit down the exhaust. Its basicly a sticky foram wih foil on it. Then i covered the doors and around my sub and speakers in dynomat and the car sounds alot better. It doesent sound as cheap anymore and the exhaust is more muffled.

i know it sounds kinda weird, but i found out that spray in bedliner works very well in deadening sound. i used it in my lifted super duty when the tires were making a lot of noise. it was a little messy to get prepped, but application was a breeze. it worked like a charm :headbang: if i could only get the time to do it to my camaro it would be great.

How much material does it take to do a Camaro? 130 sqft?

It depends on how much coverage you want. I used 100 sq ft and that was enough to get 2-3 layers in the hatch and one layer down both walls, the entire floor of the car, transmission tunnel, and footwells, but not the doors. 130 sq ft should be enough to do everything I said and the doors too.

I dont want to step on any toes with the sponsors, but does anyone know the link for the other place where they were selling the B-Quiet?
