What if GM kept making GTO's, like as a option package to the Grand Prix? What if in the 80's, GM kept with this and made a GTO on the Gbody? Like the 442 model based off the Cutlass, the GTO would be a model based of the Grand Prix.
Under the hood is a 250hp Corvette L98 5.7 liter V8 with aluminum heads, high flow exhaust manifolds, dual exhaust. Backed by GM's 700R4 4spd auto trans and the 10 bolt 8.5 inch rear end packed with a posi traction unit with 3.42 gears. Dual hood scoops and 15x8 rims sporting 245 wide tires. Lower ride hight, tighter suspension and quick ratio steering box.
Your 1986 Pontiac GTO.

it was on another board... someone said that if the GTO kept going, that it would have went FWD. It planted the seed and 1 hr later after looking for some fuggin pics at Grand Prix, the 2+2 special edition looked like it would fit the best. I was thinking it could have gotten the GN turbo 3.8, but I think GTO purists would be pissed. A 250hp corvette motor could have done well.
